Brief Description

The Wind Balance of Plant O&M Assistant Site Manager is responsible for the oversight of the wind turbine O&M subcontractor. This role involves directing turbine O&M personnel to maintain optimal plant availability and reliability in a safe, cost-effective, and proactive manner, while supporting the BOP O&M manager to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies. The supervisor will coordinate maintenance, repair, and warranty work with internal and external stakeholders, maintain strong relationships with project participants, and manage third-party service contractors.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Champion the facility safety culture by ensuring and maintaining a safe working environment covering all work functions carried out by personnel both internal and external.
  • Ensure optimum plant availability and reliability in a safe, economical and proactive manner by providing direction and supervision to turbine O&M personnel.
  • Support the BOP O&M manager in maintaining facility compliance with all regulatory entities including OSHA, NERC, ERCOT and TCEQ.
  • Collaborate with internal and external entities to schedule all maintenance, repair and warranty work required at the facility.
  • Cultivate and maintain excellent relationships with all project participants.
  • Respond to collection and transmission system outages and facilitate repair as needed. Maintain 24/7 emergency response for the facility.
  • Perform switching operations.
  • Perform minor equipment repairs (substation, collection and transmission) and document work performed.
  • Download event files from substation relays.
  • Perform facility inspections (substation, collection and transmission) on weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual intervals or as appropriate. Document inspection results.
  • Source and manage third-party service contractor work at the facility.


Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of direct experience in BOP operations (substation, collection system, etc.). Including high voltage maintenance and switching.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Minimum five years' experience in the power generation, distribution or transmission industries.
  • Wind experience preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of safe practices and commitment to ensuring site safety.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with site owners and subcontractors, via both verbal and written communication.
  • General software knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability and willingness to climb towers up to 300 feet in height and meet specific weight requirement of 310 lbs. or less.
  • Able to lift objects weighing 30 pounds.
  • Able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • Able to wear PPE.


Summary

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record, as this position requires occasional travel for company business. Candidates should be comfortable operating a vehicle as part of their job responsibilities and must meet any applicable company and insurance requirements.
