Primary Function
The Clinical Research Assistant will be a member of the Department of Family Medicine Clinical Research Center team working closely with study coordinators, nurses, investigators and analysts. The Research Assistant will help with implementing study start-up, protocols and procedures, recruitment screening, conduct visits per study protocol, collecting and processing of data entry of specified research projects. Current clinical trials include interventional studies for long covid and diabetes as well as observational cohort studies related to cardiovascular health. The majority of the work will take place at the Family Care Center in Pawtucket but some work may take place at other locations including Kent Hospital in Warwick.

Responsibilities
- Collects data by review of medical records, interviews, or other means.
- Performs coding, entry, and verification of data collected into both paper and electronic databases.
- As appropriate to the specified position, recruits subjects into research studies and conducts follow up interviews per study protocol.
- Assists in the processing and storage of biological specimens as needed, under supervision.
- Observes all relevant risk management and infection control policies and procedures and any applicable quality improvement activities.
- Collects and reviews scientific articles. Enters references into a database.
- Prepares drafts of written documents relating to study procedures.
- Performs general office duties including typing, photocopying, inventory, and ordering.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Assists in preparation of IRB submissions.
- Works evening hours and/or weekend hours as required in support of specified studies.
- Respects and safeguards the rights of human subjects, including confidentiality of information gathered.
- Observes all general hospital policies, guiding principles, rules, and regulations, and consistently adheres to the Care New England service standards.
- High School or GED Required; Associate's Degree Preferred
- Basic computer skills, e.g. familiarity with Microsoft software
- Completing spreadsheet/data entry
- Ability to work with diverse populations and support an inclusive, culturally responsive environment
