Director of Engineering – Lead Innovation in Energetics for Space & Defense
Chemring Energetic Devices (CED) is expanding to meet the increasing demand for our mission-critical energetic devices used in space and defense applications. As a result, we’ve created a new leadership role: Director of Engineering. This position will drive technical innovation, process optimization, and engineering excellence in the field of energetics and pyrotechnic systems.
Essential Job Function
Working with industries where our parts are used, we fall under multiple regulatory agencies. All CED Employees must meet the following minimum requirements.

Director of Engineering – Lead Innovation in Energetics for Space & Defense
Chemring Energetic Devices (CED) is expanding to meet the increasing demand for our mission-critical energetic devices used in space and defense applications. As a result, we’ve created a new leadership role: Director of Engineering. This position will drive technical innovation, process optimization, and engineering excellence in the field of energetics and pyrotechnic systems.
Essential Job Function
- Lead a team of engineers specializing in energetic devices, ordnance systems, and pyrotechnic actuators.
- Provide technical expertise in energetics, initiation systems, and explosive mechanisms.
- Oversee engineering processes, resource planning, and technical training.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Advanced degree preferred).
- 15+ years of experience in Aerospace, Defense, or Space industry, focusing on energetics, ordnance, or explosive devices.
- Strong background in initiators, ignitors, actuators, pyro valves, mechanical & electrical fuses.
Working with industries where our parts are used, we fall under multiple regulatory agencies. All CED Employees must meet the following minimum requirements.
- Missile Defense Agency requires our employees be US Citizen, US Person (permanent resident or granted status as a “protected person” under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) (refugee and asylum recipients)
- Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms requiring a stringent background screening
- Federal Aviation Administration – mandated drug testing program (prohibits drug including marijuana)
