We are looking for a detail-oriented jr. network engineer. This role is on-site in our Scranton, PA office. A Jr. Network Engineer is a unique and exciting role involved in network and hardware design, configurations, network management, and associated work including router, switch, OLT, and ONU hardware configurations and advanced configurations for small business and enterprise customer premise equipment.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Research and develop requirements for hardware and software to ensure interoperability, stability, and proper functionality of the network
  • Provides escalation support for troubleshooting and resolution of all network data and security issues as required by other support teams
  • Design and integrate backbone network architecture for new and existing markets
  • Interact with vendors and drive vendor requirements, resolution of bug fixes, code upgrades, and vendor development as necessary
  • Handle escalated trouble tickets
  • Monitor the network and respond to alarms swiftly to prevent user impacts
  • Implement, maintain, and troubleshoot devices such as servers, switches, routers, firewalls, etc.
  • Ensure all network procedures and policies are followed
  • Coordinate network parts inventory
  • Perform network maintenance and improvement activities
  • Design and provision network services for customers
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Qualifications:

  • Experience in a network engineer position.
  • Experience with BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, OSPF, and major internet routing protocols.
  • Experience with network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols.
  • Experience with various equipment assets and circuit inventory systems required
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documents such as vendor deployment guidelines, white papers, and configuration manuals
  • Knowledge of and experience with major router platforms; the following hardware vendors are preferred: Nokia, Arista, Juniper
  • Experience with databases and software development preferred
  • Experience with voice transport and routing
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex voice issues
  • Ability to work independently and apply sound judgment and reasoning skills to a variety of situations
  • Ability to multi-task and collaborate effectively with other personnel to meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work within critical deadlines
  • Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities and schedules
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and to talk and hear, and lift 75 pounds or more. The associate must occasionally reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch.
