Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Trauma Program Manager, the registrar is responsible for the collection/abstraction of required state and national trauma data bank elements into the Trauma Registry database on all patients meeting state or national trauma inclusion criteria. He/she is also responsible for data submission/distribution/report generation to/for the appropriate parties within the designated time fram. This position assists with projects under the direction of the Trauma Program Manager as indicated. Maintains awareness of current trends and concepts in trauma care and assists with all elements of trauma educational program development.
Assists with the optimal care of injured patients of the department through education, performance improvement, data entry/collection, office management, coordination, and extensive contact with other hospitals and organizations.
Supports process improvement and quality management goals by the identification and review of trauma cases at the Trauma Center as well as pre-hospital and community hospital level.
Core Job Responsibilities
50% Regulatory - The primary responsibility of the trauma registrar is to collect/abstract data from Epic and enter it into the Trauma Registry data bank for all patients meeting state or national inclusion criteria. Regular submission or downloads must occur as directed by the state and federal regulations.
50% Data abstraction/collection- The trauma registrar must submit/distribute/report out data related to the trauma program as requested by the Trauma Program Manager or Trauma Medical Director.

Education/Experience Requirements
Required:
- Bachelors degree in Health Information Management or Nursing
Required:
- Certfied Specialist in Trauma Registers
- AIS/ISS, ICD-9/10 coding familiarity
