The front office of the Deputy Chancellor for Family, Community and Student Engagement serves as the strategic center of the division, guiding the vision and execution of key initiatives that foster strong relationships among families, communities, and schools. The team—composed of the Deputy Chancellor, Chief of Staff, and Executive Assistant—works closely to ensure the alignment of programs, priorities, and partnerships that center student success and achievement.
Internship Responsibilities
The intern will support the division by conducting research focused on family, community, and student empowerment. This work will involve collecting and analyzing data and qualitative stories from across the division’s programs, with the goal of illustrating how empowerment of these key stakeholders contributes to improved student outcomes.

(Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not earn less than their current salary.)

- Conduct research on national and local best practices related to family, community, and student empowerment.
- Collect and organize quantitative and qualitative data from existing division initiatives.
- Gather anecdotes and success stories that highlight the impact of empowerment on student achievement.
- Synthesize findings into briefs, reports, or presentation materials for internal use and external communication.
- Support strategic projects led by the division.
- Attend relevant meetings and take notes to inform ongoing research and analysis.
- Strong interest in family and community engagement, and student advocacy.
- Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods.
- Strong writing, synthesis, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to centering the voices of families, students, and communities in educational decision-making.
