Description
Is a bachelor of Science graduate interested to train as a medical Technologist.
Is trained to perform activities and other tasks as necessary in a laboratory environment under supervision until deemed competent, based on checklist items, to work independently. Has thorough knowledge of in-house test requirements, receive and prioritize / process specimens, initiate testing and complete verification of results appropriately to include critical results and ensure thet timely completion of pending items.
Once fully trained gets integrated within the technical staff to perform & report results, knows how to interpret values & recognizes those of critical ranges needing reporting with a read back.
Responsible for maintaining a clean environment plus clean equipment. assists by taking inventory of reagents, ordering and stocking of materials as needed, stocking & rotating those older in expiration dates.
Relies on SOP instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision, typically reports to a lead, supervisor or manager & completes tasks as assigned. Completes the application & sits for the AMT certification exam, after having completed 1 year's work in all lab disciplines.
Areas of responsibility under direct Lab supervision, is to perform assigned lab tests in all areas of Lab or Key discipline of choice; Microbiology, Hematology and Urinalysis, Coagualtion, Chemistry and waived testing.
Completes continuing education assignments and participates in Peformance Improvement activities. Provides service to age range from infant to geriatric, plus other duties as assigned.
