What We Are Looking For

Yazaki is looking for a Profit Improvement Engineer to join our Engineering department in Canton, MI. This person will work closely with Yazaki’s Commodity Purchasing teams, as well as Business Units, to identify opportunities for Vertical Integration and Profit Improvement. They will provide Technical support to Local and Global Commodity Purchasing teams for the development of OEM and regional component strategies. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative and action-driven environment making lasting impacts on the organization. This position is hybrid.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Identifies potential vertical integration opportunities
    • Working with Global Teams to identify and document component attributes
    • Analyze and assess components with common attributes for 1-2-1 replacements
    • Support BU’s in assessing proposals and developing implementation plans for replacements
    • Document known 1-2-1 replacements, in BEAMS, for Global use
  • Identifies potential profit improvement opportunities
    • Working with Global Teams to identify and document component attributes
    • Analyze and assess components with common attributes for 1-2-1 replacements
    • Support BU’s in assessing proposals and developing implementation plans for replacements
    • Collaborate with BU’s and Buyers to identify strategic components for each BU
    • Document known 1-2-1 replacements, in BEAMS, for Global use
    • Verify cost savings ideas are in compliance to the associated component selection strategy, EDS design and DFM guidelines, and provide additions or modifications as necessary
    • Investigate new components, substitutes, and technologies that reduce overall costs while maintaining or improving quality
  • Provide Technical support within Purchasing in identifying/confirming replacement opportunities and cost savings proposals
  • Utilize PowerBI to consolidate component data from multiple sources (GPDB, BEAMS, SAP, CAD libraries, etc…) to identify potential replacement opportunities.
  • Conduct Component Selection Training both locally and globally to all disciplines (Engineering, Purchasing, etc.)
What You Will Bring To The Table

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
  • 1+ year of Automotive EEDS experience preferred
  • Both domestic and international travel could be required between Yazaki facilities and to customer and manufacturing sites
  • Experience with PowerBI
