Position/Title: Central Operations Specialist
Reporting to: AVP, Central Operations Manager
Type: Non-exempt hourly position – 40 hours per week
Location: East County Office – 9400 Grossmont Summit Dr, Ste 202, La Mesa, CA 91941
The Central Operations Specialist is responsible for handling the Bank’s centralized operations functions in accordance with Bank policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Processes incoming and outgoing wire transfers, including international and foreign exchange wires; notifies branch or customer of issues such as returned wires and invalid instructions.
- Answers branch and customer telephone and email inquiries; provides information and assistance in accordance with bank policy and applicable regulations.
- Conduct various reconciliations for wires, correspondent bank account, ATM, etc.
- Process Monthly/Quarterly Department Certifications.
- Processes Monthly GL Certifications
- Foreign Check Processing
- ACH-process incoming returns, reversal requests, and respond to inquiries related to ACH transactions.
- Responsible for investigating and resolving check fraud cases. Document findings, maintain detailed logs, and track the progress of each check fraud investigation.
- Responsible for department audit requests and self-identified issues.
- May draft new procedures and provide updates to existing procedures as needed for the purpose of streamlining operational functions and department cross-training.
- Provide back up to Central Ops team members in NSF/Non-Post, Exception Item handling.
- Performs other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.
Competencies Required:
- Solid technology skills, including intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) and wire transfer/core banking applications.
- Working knowledge of banking policies, procedures, and regulations as they relate to Wire Transfers including BSA and OFAC guidelines.
- Must be both a strong individual contributor and a flexible, adaptable team player.
- Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Good analytical skills with strong attention to detail, high concern for data accuracy, and the ability to detect potential fraudulent activity.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to maintain accuracy and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Qualifications
- 5+ years banking operations, customer service, or accounting experience in the financial services or banking industry with exposure to wire transfer processing.
- Central Operations experience preferred.
