Description

Position Summary:

Responsible for understanding reliability plans and coordinating key system upkeep / improvement activities related to building facilities, support systems and contracted services. This role will also have responsibilities to ensure manufacturing support equipment is kept in optimal operating condition and will coordinate with equipment experts to determine the proper maintenance plans. These responsibilities will include developing effective communication models with contractors and related suppliers.

Reports to: Sr. Manager of Facilities

Functional Responsibilities

Facilities Building Support

  • Ensures that buildings are maintained, secured, renovated and constructed according to departmental / organizational policies, procedures, plans and initiatives.
  • Routinely inspect buildings and sites for needed repair and respond to emergency maintenance requests as required.
  • Identifies and recommends changes and improvements in the physical plant to be consistent with appropriate codes and authorities to ensure safe operation.

Facility Infrastructure Support

  • Provide onsite support for equipment breakdowns and repair needs (i.e. air compressors, boiler, wastewater treatment system, fire systems, HVAC, pumps, chillers, etc.).
  • Perform walk-through audits of facilities and systems to ensure proper operating conditions.
  • Support onsite audits and regulatory inspections (i.e. fire, building, boiler, wastewater treatment system, etc)
  • Develop and monitor preventative maintenance program and support plans to ensure facilities support equipment are operating properly and efficiently (e.g.: air compressors, boiler, wastewater treatment, fire systems, HVAC, pumps, chillers, security system etc). Monitor and manage work orders in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to ensure effective completion.
  • Define and manage appropriate spare parts inventory for support equipment.

Service Contract Support

  • Prepare and assist with managing operational support plans (i.e. pest control, groundskeeping, janitorial, waste management, etc).
  • Oversee, plan and manage execution of contracted services (i.e. cleaning services, vending, groundskeeping, parking lots, building security and access, snow removal, landscaping, etc).
  • Review and authorize purchase requests to ensure service agreements and services are compliant with procedures and budget.

General

  • Communicate with all key stakeholders on the status of work and issues impacting services.
  • Assist with facility-related maintenance work, as required (i.e. painting, carpentry, masonry work, etc).
  • Must be able and willing to support occasional off-shift work.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
  • Able to understand and follow directions as given and intended.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry is a plus.
  • Must be detail orientated and able to maintain a clean work area.
  • Must be customer service oriented and able to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Ability to use common power and industrial tools.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in either a team or individual basis
  • Experience in a FDA controlled GMP environment is preferred.
  • High level of internal contact – working with all departments
  • Experience managing and engaging with professional suppliers
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects and activities simultaneously.

Educational Qualifications & Required Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree in related technical discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of working experience in facility maintenance.
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems, preferred.
