The Town of Brookline’s Building Department is hiring a Senior Maintenance Craftsperson – Plumber to join our skilled maintenance team. In this essential role, you’ll use your plumbing expertise to maintain and repair vital systems in public buildings, from heating and gas to landscape irrigation and sprinkler systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair plumbing, heating, gas, and sprinkler systems across town buildings and outdoor properties.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues; order parts and install fixtures, valves, and equipment.
  • Coordinate with other trades (carpentry, electrical, HVAC) and support minor facility maintenance tasks.
  • Work on landscape irrigation systems, boiler and heating infrastructure, and more.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. 3–5 years of hands-on experience in plumbing, HVAC, or other building maintenance work (including electrical or carpentry). A combination of experience and technical training will be considered.

Licenses & Certifications Required

  • Valid MA Journeyman Plumber’s License (required)
  • Massachusetts Class D Driver’s License (required)
  • Additional licenses a plus:
    • Journeyman Electrician License
    • Refrigeration/HVAC License
    • Massachusetts CFC Certification
    • Certifications in Asbestos or Lead Paint Removal, Construction Supervisor License
