We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Used Car Acquisition Specialist to join our dynamic team. The primary responsibility of this role is to source and purchase quality used vehicles directly from private sellers and other non-auction channels. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, a strong understanding of vehicle valuation, and the ability to work independently to identify and secure desirable inventory.
Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Used Car Acquisition Specialist to join our dynamic team. The primary responsibility of this role is to source and purchase quality used vehicles directly from private sellers and other non-auction channels. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, a strong understanding of vehicle valuation, and the ability to work independently to identify and secure desirable inventory.
Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and contact private sellers of used vehicles through various online platforms, referrals, and other innovative methods.
- Evaluate potential acquisitions through thorough vehicle inspections, test drives, and title verification.
- Accurately appraise vehicles based on market conditions, condition, mileage, and features to determine fair purchase prices.
- Negotiate purchase terms with sellers to acquire vehicles at competitive prices while maintaining profitability goals.
- Manage all necessary paperwork for vehicle acquisitions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all legal and company policies.
- Coordinate vehicle transportation and delivery to our dealership location.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all acquisition activities and communicate regularly with management on progress and market trends.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with potential sellers and industry contacts.
- Stay informed about current market trends, vehicle models, and pricing strategies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates a high “HQ” (Hospitality Quotient) consisting of kindness & optimism, intellectual curiosity, work ethic, empathy, self-awareness, and integrity.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience in the automotive industry, preferably in vehicle acquisition or sales
- Skills: Proven experience in vehicle appraisal, sales, or acquisition, preferably in the automotive industry.
- In-depth knowledge of various makes and models of used vehicles.
- Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet acquisition targets.
- Proficiency in using various online platforms and automotive software.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or a degree in a related field is a plus.
- Knowledge of vehicle mechanics and maintenance.
- Bilingual language skills.
- Walking/Standing: Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods. Spends majority of the day at a desk and computer.
- Lifting/Carrying: Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Bending/Climbing: Occasional bending, crouching, and climbing in and out of vehicles.
- Travel: Occasional travel for vehicle acquisitions
