Job Summary
- Responsible to coordinate and oversee the daily activities of the surgical area in the market
- Ensures the daily operations of the departments including staff scheduling, ensuring the delivery of optimal patient care
- Develop new methods to improve existing systems or operations
- Assess developmental needs of staff and develop continuing education and quality assurance programs to optimize patient care
- Research supplies, instruments and equipment and recommend purchases to the Market CEO
- Assist in the selection, training and evaluation of subordinates and initiate personnel actions in accordance with Human Resources policies and organization philosophy
- Maintain the necessary level of professional knowledge and technical proficiency in areas of functional responsibility
- Complete required continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements
- Ensures the use of established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, asbestos, and other hazardous substances
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served within the unit
- Must read, write and speak fluent English
- Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, word-processing and spreadsheet software
- Must have good and regular attendance
- Approximate percent of time required to travel; 5%
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education
- Associate in Nursing degree
- Valid state license as Registered Nurse
- ANOR certification preferred
- BLS certification required
- Three years of operating room experience as a Registered Nurse preferred
