The Director, Patient Inclusion sits within the Clinical Development Operations (CDO) organization. This role will report into the Director II, Patient Inclusion.
Responsibilities
Enhance Patient Access & Integrate Global Patient Insights
- Develop business strategy for the creation of global disease area patient and care-partner councils in priority indications to enable direct access to patient voice across R&D
- Identify, develop and operationalize strategic business capabilities (e.g., insight integration, supplier sourcing, engagement frameworks) that advance trial equity ,to ensure clinical trial patients reflect the global and varied real work populations living with the disease, enhance participant experience, and improve feasibility.
- Work cross functionally to develop business strategy for integrating global patient insights into asset strategies to enhance patient access to clinical trials and ensure that AbbVies treatments appropriately address the varied needs of patients
- Lead the design and implementation of cross-functional strategic initiatives that embed inclusive patient engagement into R&D decision-making and enterprise processes.
- Serve as a strategic advisor and capability lead, ensuring that the Patient Inclusion function aligns with evolving enterprise priorities, regulatory guidance, and drug development milestones.
- Serve as a strategic partner to R&D disease area teams, clinical operations, and enterprise strategy leads to ensure capabilities are actionable, scalable, and aligned to development priorities.
- Lead initiatives that assess and champion enterprise-wide adoption of inclusive practices through frameworks, tools, and platforms that democratize patient insights and improve strategic foresight.
- Integrate new capabilities developed within Patient Inclusion into business workflows by aligning with drug development milestones, governance structures, and therapeutic area priorities across the enterprise.
- Provide oversight for embedding patient engagement into the Pipeline Commercialization Model, with clear connection points to disease area strategy, program design, and launch readiness.
- Lead functional readiness related to new legal, regulatory, compliance and policy guidance, as it relates to standard operating procedures and policies related to clinical development
- Understand the evolving needs of the team, appropriately prioritizing demands, selecting appropriate solutions, tools and platforms to be deployed to drive executional excellence of patient engagement activities
- Partner with Senior Leadership on KPI development, progress tracking, and impact reporting to executive stakeholders.
- Bachelors Degree required, Advanced degree is desirable.
- Minimum of 10 years + of pharma-related/clinical research experience or equivalent
- 10 years+ of project management and people management (preferred)
- Advanced working knowledge of ICH and GCP guidelines required.
- Operational understanding of the global regulatory environment is desirable.
- Excellent collaborator and articulate communicator easily build relationships across geographic locations and gains cross functional alignment.
- Ability to communicate persuasively with clarity, flexibility, and adaptability to changing requirements, resourcefulness, and creativity
- Strategic thinker with excellent business and financial aptitude, very analytical and uses data to drive the business and continuous improvements.
