Overview Of The Position
The Brook Hill Alliance (formerly PLUS) is a global leader in providing English language courses to international students. Our mission is to empower students to connect with the world through language and cultural exchange. At Brook Hill, we are dedicated to creating vibrant, inclusive, and safe environments where students can grow academically, culturally, and personally.
Brook Hill runs summer English language study and travel programs for international high school students across North America. The programs allow students the opportunity to take English classes and explore the surrounding regions while staying at North American colleges and universities.
Teachers provide English as a Foreign Language lessons to international high school students based on the curriculum and lesson plans provided. Lessons focus primarily on improving students’ listening and speaking skills. Class levels are elementary through high advanced. Opportunities to teach courses and/or lessons focused on American history and culture, business and entrepreneurship, international relations, the United Nations, the movie industry, communication, and journalism may also be available. Costs related to parking may not be included, but complimentary parking permits may be available depending on the campus.
Substitute Teachers report directly to the Academic Supervisor. This is a part-time, hourly, in-person position and is not eligible for on-campus housing.

The Employment Period Is June 18-August 11. We Are Currently Looking For Teachers Who Are Available For The Following Dates And Times, But Additional Hours May Be Available During The June 18-August 11 Timeframe As Well
Pay scale is determined by campus location and program size. The pay scale for this position is: $24.00-$27.00 per hour.

- Wednesday, July 9, 8:15am-12:15pm AND 1:15pm-5:00pm
- Saturday, July 12: 8:15am-12:15pm
- Wednesday, July 23: 8:15am-12:15pm
- Wednesday, July 30: 8:15am-12:15pm
- Monday, August 4: 8:15am-12:15pm

Specific Duties And Responsibilities
The following is expected of Teachers:
- Standard Expectations
- Interact with groups of international high school students and their group leaders in a professional, enthusiastic, and customer service-oriented manner
- Be familiar with, adhere to, and enforce Brook Hill policies and procedures, including emergency and public health protocols
- Ensure the safety of all participants
- Be familiar with campus-specific information
- Maintain frequent communication with Brook Hill staff
- Assist with emergency situations, as needed
- Complete all Brook Hill assessments received during employment period
- Assist in duties other than the aforementioned and the following, as assigned and as they arise
- Academic Program
- Deliver well-prepared English as a Foreign Language lessons to diverse classrooms of international high school students in a professional and engaging manner
- Review the curriculum provided by Brook Hill to adequately prepare for each lesson; instructors should be prepared to supplement the curriculum with their own materials, as appropriate.
- Assess whether students have been placed in the correct level of instruction
- Orally assess students’ proficiency levels, as directed by the Academic Supervisor
- Practice appropriate classroom management techniques to ensure a safe, comfortable, and engaging learning environment for all students
- Track students’ attendance on a daily basis
- Fill out a Certificate of Course Completion for each student at the conclusion of their course
- Collaborate with the Academic Supervisor and Brook Hill administration regarding instructional methods and the curriculum
- Attend training session and any additional meetings organized by the Academic Supervisor and/or Brook Hill administration
- Maintain frequent and professional communication with the Academic Supervisor
- Perform other duties, as assigned
- Authorization to work in the U.S. required
- Must be 18 years or older
- Bachelor’s degree required (at the time of start date)
- Prior teaching experience strongly preferred
- Experience working with multicultural and multilingual classrooms strongly preferred
- Command of Google Drive (including Google Sheets and Google Slides) and the Microsoft suite of products (including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) strongly preferred
- Successful candidates will be self-motivated, organized, professional, and adaptable, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
