TACG is seeking a Functional Tester to join our team supporting the United States Coast Guard (USCG) in designing, deploying, and maintaining the Vessel Incidental Discharge Act (VIDA) Data Management system (DMS) to implement, monitor, and enforce regulations for vessel incidental discharges. This will be a cloud-based, Low-Code Application Platform (LCAP) solution using Appian.
The Functional Tester will evaluate the VIDA DMS basic functionalities against a predetermined set of specifications. Using Black Box Testing techniques, functional tests will measure whether a given input returns the desired output.
Work Location:
There will be occasional USCG meetings in the DC Metro Area or West Virginia. The Functional Tester may work remotely, but if there is interest in attending USCG meetings, then the Functional Tester should reside one hour travel time from the DC Metro Area.

Responsibilities(include but are not limited to):
- Develop and Maintain Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMPs), Test Case Specifications (with input and expected output values), System Acceptance Test Procedures, and associated reports
- Perform the appropriate functional tests, which may include unit, smoke, sanity, regression, integration, usability, white box, grey-box, blackbox, component and database testing
- Employ appropriate testing techniques, which may include end-user based, equivalence, boundary value, decision-based, and ad-hoc tests.
- Ensure the software fulfills the user needs
- Perform testing to identify functional issues early on
- Enhance the application quality and user experience through functional testing
- Ensure application compatibility across the required platforms and devices
- Very user workflows and interactions
- Implement automated testing as much as feasible
- Security Clearance:
- Must have or be eligible for a Tier 1 background investigation.
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science or an IT related field. Relevant experience may be used in lieu of a degree.
- Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years as a functional tester
- Experience with USCG is a plus
- Experience with VIDA DMS is a definite plus
- Experience with Appian or other LCAP solutions is a plus
