Position Overview
The Health and Safety Council (HASC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit with more than 35 years of service to the petrochemical and manufacturing industries. Headquartered along the Houston Ship Channel, we provide training, occupational medicine, and innovative workforce solutions to companies around the world.
The Training Supervisor will lead and manage all day-to-day training operations. This role is responsible for assessing training needs, designing and implementing effective employee development programs, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. The Training Supervisor will collaborate across departments to ensure high-quality delivery, operational efficiency, and continued performance improvement.
Essential Job Responsibilities
This position involves a combination of office and hands-on activity. Regularly required to read, speak, and listen. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands and arms to operate training tools and equipment. May occasionally lift/move up to 25 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
This role is primarily based in an office/training center setting, with travel as needed. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Reporting Responsibilities
The Training Supervisor reports directly to the Sr. Director of Learning and Instructional Design, and will have supervisory responsibilities over training staff.

The Training Supervisor will lead and manage all day-to-day training operations. The Training Supervisor will collaborate across departments to ensure high-quality delivery, operational efficiency, and continued performance improvement.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Conducts annual training and development needs assessments.
- Supports the development and execution of training programs that meet member and organizational objectives.
- Manages day-to-day operations, including instructor schedules, classroom readiness, and customer experience.
- Develops and maintains in-house training materials and equipment using various media.
- Coordinates and facilitates the procurement of supplies for training events.
- Provides input on instructional design and develops targeted training to address skill gaps and improve workforce performance.
- Conducts evaluations and follow-up studies to measure training effectiveness and adjust programs accordingly.
- Oversees instructor performance and ensures consistency and quality of training delivery.
- Supports talent development through hiring, coaching, and performance monitoring.
- Ensures adherence to departmental budget.
- Collaborates with internal teams for marketing, promotion, and client support.
- Promotes organizational culture, values, and team collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Training & Development, Education, HR, Safety, or a related field; OR relevant industry certification such as CPTM (Certified Professional in Training Management), ATD credentials, OSHA Train-the-Trainer, BCSP certifications (e.g., CHST, CSP), NCCER Instructor Certification, or similar.
- Minimum of five years’ experience designing and implementing employee development or training programs.
- Willingness and flexibility to work at different locations as business needs arise.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong facilitation and presentation capabilities.
- Proficiency with a variety of multimedia and e-learning platforms.
- Sound knowledge of adult learning theories, instructional design, and training methodologies.
- Proven ability to research, evaluate, and implement training strategies and solutions.
- Effective at designing engaging, results-oriented training programs.
