Description

Burial Beer Co is seeking a Taproom General Manager to join our Retail team at the Forestry Camp Taproom. This leadership role is responsible for supervising staff, managing day-to-day taproom operations, and overseeing site-specific private events and large-scale public events at our Forestry Camp location.

The Job

To succeed as the Taproom General Manager, you bring experience in bar or restaurant management and a passion for craft beverages and creating a cohesive, meaningful guest experience. Your organization and reliability set the standard for the team, and you’re able to seamlessly shift between administrative responsibilities and hands-on bar shifts. You’re a strong communicator, a creative problem solver, and an inspiring team leader.

The Forestry Camp Taproom General Manager is a full-time, salaried position focused on administration, operations, training and support, and team building. This role reports to the Executive Team and oversees all employees that work at the venue.

What You’ll Do

Leadership

  • Lead, support, and coach the Front-of-House (FOH) team through ongoing education, upholding company values and standards, ABC compliance, and hospitality standards.
  • Manage HR-related administrative tasks for the Taproom, including payroll, scheduling approvals, hiring/terminations, injury reporting, and disciplinary actions.
  • Provide direct oversight to the Kitchen Manager, including PTO approvals, performance evaluations, and stewardship of the FOH/BOH Employee Appreciation budget.
  • Foster a positive work culture and maintain effective internal communication via Basecamp.
  • Participate in weekly management meetings to align on goals, operational strategies, and budget management.

Operations

  • Maintain a clean, organized taproom; oversee weekly beer line cleaning and preventative maintenance, and coordinate outsourced repairs as needed.
  • Uphold Burial’s brand standards across product release flow, inventory rotation for freshness and variety, and POS system accuracy.
  • Manage beverage ordering, supply procurement, and weekly expense reporting.
  • Oversee can, bottle, and keg inventory tracking; execute regularly scheduled allocation requests for Burial made products through EKOS
  • Develop and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve staff performance, guest experience, and site operations.
  • Respond to customer inquiries related to the venue
  • Provide hands-on leadership during peak hours to actively support all taproom teams

Marketing

  • Partner with the Brand team on merchandise planning, promotional campaigns, social media content, and site signage.
  • Plan and execute the venue’s social media content on social media platforms
  • Plan and execute taproom events in collaboration with the Programming Manager, coordinating with vendors on entertainment and Food & Beverage needs.
  • Represent Burial as a brand ambassador within the local community.
  • Site Specific:
  • Participate in regular Brand department meetings to provide strategy with regard to private and public events that are held on the venue’s grounds.
  • Act as point person for Retail Team in the planning and execution of large-scale music events/festivals, including Burnpile that take place at the Forestry Camp site
  • Actively participate in the execution of public events that are held on the venue’s grounds

Site Specific

  • Participate in regular Brand department meetings to provide strategy with regard to private and public events that are held on the venue’s grounds.
  • Act as point person for Retail Team in the planning and execution of large-scale music events/festivals, including Burnpile that take place at the Forestry Camp site
  • Actively participate in the execution of public events that are held on the venue’s grounds

Requirements

Who We’re Looking For

  • Minimum of 2 years in a management position in a Restaurant/Bar setting
  • Experienced communicator is a must
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must pass a background check prior to employment
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays

Job Competencies

  • Deep adoration and understanding for the Burial, VISUALS and Seance portfolios of products and brand narratives
  • Understanding of different beer and wine styles and draft systems.
  • Understanding and personal interest in cocktail programs
  • Ability to motivate, train, and manage a team of employees.
  • Ability to cultivate a positive and engaging experience for customers, addressing their needs and resolving issues.
  • Ability to quickly and effectively identify and resolve issues that arise in the taproom environment.
  • Ability to execute minor facility repairs
  • Familiarity with POS systems, inventory management, scheduling, and cleaning procedures
  • Ensuring accuracy in inventory, scheduling, and overall taproom operations.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized taproom, manage inventory, and schedule staff effectively.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
