The Epic Principal Trainer will work closely with Epic Analysts, Credentialed Trainers, Bassett Healthcare Network Leadership, the Department of Surgery, GI, IT, and other departments, in all aspects of Epic training. Responsibility of all aspects of workflow design and training activities in conjunction with new hire training, project implementations, upgrades, and optimization. This role works as a member of the Health Informatics Team and will assist with workflow process improvement and the communication of project status updates, system design abilities, and other related information to the various departments within the organization. This role is responsible for thoroughly testing all training material in the training environments as part of routine maintenance, leading up to and post Epic Upgrades, credentialing end user trainers, and maintenance of training material and the training environments. This role acts as a liaison between the end user community and the IT department and will be responsible for assisting end users to: understand impacted Epic workflows, achieve targeted best practice outcomes and optimization goals, and help with identified process changes. Between training activities, may focus on the analysis, testing, implementation, and support activities for their designated applications and maintaining a link to assigned end users to ensure the system furthers the enterprise’s goal of excellent patient care and supports quality initiatives. Must be flexible to provide on-call or after-hours support and virtual training sessions.

Primary Responsibilities
- Support Lumens, Anesthesia, Beaker, OpTime, Radiant, Haiku, Canto, and Rover applications
- Create and maintain training and communication materials, including curricula/lesson plans, appropriate end user proficiency measures, and tip sheets on functionality and/or workflows
- Documentation of end user training completion via the LMS HealthStream
- Documentation in ServiceNOW regarding end user completion of training, work performed on service desk tickets, and any other required items as deemed necessary by leadership
- Perform required updates of Epic Learning Home Dashboards and Bassett Training Webpage
- Support all elements of training planning, design, development, and implementation for designated application(s)
- Collaborate with Credentialed Trainers to maintain training and communication, including supporting super users
- Maintain core knowledge of key practices (business or patient care) that are integrated with the Epic system
- Credential new trainers for training end users
- Build and maintain Epic training environments, utilizing mock patients and scenarios
- Earn and maintain certification in one or more Epic applications
- Conduct training on Epic applications, including serving as a backup as needed for credentialed trainers, and providing end user support for new initiatives
- Collaborate with peers and operational staff across the system to optimize resources and share expertise
- Address any needs for review and refinement of policies, procedures, and business operations in the training environments, communicating system changes to the enterprise through emails, department meetings, or any other forums deemed appropriate by management
- Builds rapport and creates an enjoyable learning environment
- Assist with build, testing, upgrades and optimization priorities
- Demonstrate flexibility to work varied hours
- Ensure approval of deliverables by the appropriate members of the project team, and deliverable completion in accordance with the training strategy
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of training experience
- 2+ years of experience working in a health care setting
- EMR system experience such as Epic or Cerner
- Certification in two or more Epic applications; Lumens and Anesthesia preferred
- Epic Auto Grader Badge
- Experience with Mitosis
- Experience with Training Environment Build
- Experience with Beaker, OpTime, Radiant, Haiku, Canto, and Rover applications
