Prevailance is seeking an experienced and mission-focused professional to support Headquarters (HQ) Supreme Allied Commander Transformation's (SACT) as a RED Team China / Southeast Asia Subject Matter Expert (SME).
The China SME will provide critical expertise on China, Southeast Asia, and Pacific affairs, advising NATO on strategic and operational challenges related to the region. This role involves conducting in-depth research on emerging threats, adversarial strategies, and technological advancements while coordinating with external experts to enhance NATO’s decision-making processes. The SME will support the Red Team by developing reports, briefings, and wargame evaluations, ensuring high-quality deliverables aligned with NATO standards. Additionally, the SME will act as a liaison between NATO entities, offering strategic assessments, intelligence coordination, and planning support for contingencies and exercises related to China.

The China SME will provide critical expertise on China, Southeast Asia, and Pacific affairs, advising NATO on strategic and operational challenges related to the region. This role involves conducting in-depth research on emerging threats, adversarial strategies, and technological advancements while coordinating with external experts to enhance NATO’s decision-making processes. The SME will support the Red Team by developing reports, briefings, and wargame evaluations, ensuring high-quality deliverables aligned with NATO standards. Additionally, the SME will act as a liaison between NATO entities, offering strategic assessments, intelligence coordination, and planning support for contingencies and exercises related to China.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert on China, providing analysis on Southeast Asia and Pacific matters relevant to NATO
- Coordinate external expertise on China to support designated projects, aligning with NATO’s Tier approach
- Assist in the development and implementation of WDA Lines of Delivery, focusing on strategic and operational challenges related to China
- Conduct detailed research and analysis on adversarial strategies, emerging threats, and technological advancements
- Support the Red Team’s activities by preparing reports, strategic analyses, and wargame evaluations
- Provide expert recommendations for ACT programs involving China
- Validate Chinese planning inputs to ensure they align with NATO’s strategic objectives
- Offer reach-back support to NATO HQ and ACT Directorates for planning activities, contingencies, and exercises related to China
- Act as a liaison between the Red Team and NATO entities, facilitating intelligence sharing and strategic coordination
- Develop and maintain a repository of Red Team knowledge, including best practices, lessons learned, and research findings
- Prepare position papers and deliver high-level briefings on China
Qualifications:
- Experience working with international teams
- Experience working in a strategic headquarters addressing China/Southeast Asia-related issues
- Project management experience, including complex stakeholder management; PMP certification or equivalent is required
- Demonstrated research experience in an accredited academic institution, government, or corporate environment
- Experience working or living in the region of expertise
- Background in international relations, security studies, or geopolitical analysis
- Published work demonstrating knowledge of political, geopolitical, economic, and human factors in the region
- Fluency in English and proficiency in a regional language (Chinese or other relevant language)
- Familiarity with NATO’s structure, functions, and operational environment
- Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Citizenship of a NATO member country
- US / NATO Member Country Passport required
- Possess a familiarity with the organization and hierarchy of the military rank and grade structure
- Possess a knowledge of military terminology
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a NATO Secret Clearance or national equivalent
