The Position

The Position
The Patient AR Follow-Up Representative is responsible for managing patient accounts receivable, following up on outstanding balances, and ensuring timely payments. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with patients to resolve billing inquiries professionally and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Contact patients via phone, email, or mail to discuss outstanding balances and arrange payment plans.
- Provide clear and accurate explanations of charges, insurance payments, and patient financial responsibilities.
- Verify patient account details, including insurance information and demographics, to ensure accuracy.
- Address patient inquiries regarding billing statements, insurance claims, and payment discrepancies.
- Research and resolve billing discrepancies in coordination with internal teams.
- Collect payments and post transactions accurately to patient accounts.
- Offer and set up payment plans in accordance with organizational policies.
- Monitor and follow up on missed payment arrangements to ensure compliance.
- Document all patient interactions, payment arrangements, and account updates in the system.
- Generate reports on accounts receivable metrics, such as collections and outstanding balances.
- Identify trends in patient account issues and recommend process improvements.
Performance/Skills Requirements:
- Patient Account Management: Ability to handle patient billing inquiries with professionalism and clarity.
- Communication Excellence: Strong verbal and written communication skills for patient interactions.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve billing discrepancies efficiently.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with EHR systems and billing software.
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in accounts receivable, billing, or healthcare administration.
- Knowledge of insurance billing and payment processes.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy standards.
- Certification in medical billing or coding (e.g., CPC, CCA) is a plus.
- This is a Full-Time remote position approved for candidates who reside in one of the following states CO, FL, KS, MA, MI, MO, NM, OR, PA, SC, VA, WY, TX, or NC.
- Compensation for this role will be $20.56 - $23.79 based on experience and qualifications.
