McChrystal Group’s Associate Analytics Consultant plays a central role in the execution of people analytics and survey-based consultative engagements with clients focused on data-driven organizational change efforts. They help plan project stages, report on progress to assure deadlines and standards are met, and play a pivotal role in the data analysis that drives business outcomes for clients. In this capacity, they work under an Analytics Project Lead and operate at the nexus between the MG Analytics team, the client, and other internal stakeholders during day-to-day project activities. Core areas of focus include basic data analysis, survey science and statistical analysis, data visualization and presentation design, and most critically, data-driven story telling in communications with client leaders, as well as standard consultative skills.

Expect that you will be a part of a dynamic, high performing team and have direct engagement with internal and client senior level leaders - from Manager to C-suite - at a regular cadence.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning, designing, and execution of end-to-end analytics projects with clients, from research design through data collection, analysis, presentation, providing recommendations, and follow up consultation. Specifically, this execution requires:
  • Assisting with designing focus groups and interview sessions with clients
  • Performing data cleaning and analysis of survey results
  • Analyzing and manipulating client HR/demographics data sets to help contextualize survey responses by demographic cohorts
  • Preparing client-ready presentations
  • Using data trends to tell a story; help craft narrative-driven client presentations and support delivery of those presentations to executive-level buyers
  • Applying statistical methods and/or proprietary models to report accurate results, on schedule, in standard formats
  • Communicating how data was analyzed in easy-to-understand language
  • Manages relationships with internal stakeholder teams to ensure timely execution of projects while ensuring coordination with MG Analytics team’s leadership
  • Demonstrates innovation in the research of and contribution to the creation of new products, visualizations, tools etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant professional experience or a Master’s degree and 2 years of relevant professional experience
  • Operational skills including:
  • Previous project management and planning skills.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and respond to conflicting needs.
  • Demonstrable analytical, research, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to support the synthesis and simplification of complex data into high-level narratives.
  • Technical skills include:
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience analyzing survey questions and responses, including basic statistical techniques & significance metrics
  • Experience in, or a willingness to learn, Python and/or R for basic data manipulation and statistical analysis
  • Experience in, or a willingness to learn, SQL other relational database querying for basic data retrieval and reporting
  • Experience in, or willingness to learn, data visualization (PowerBI, D3.js ) is a plus
  • Ability to support the coordination and maintenance of client relationships
  • Ability and desire to travel up to 25% of the time.
