About The Job:

The Courtyard by Marriott in Olathe, KS is seeking an Assistant General Manager. KMG is a rapidly growing Hospitality Company with great opportunities for an ambitious and motivated individual. The hotel features 119 guest rooms, The Bistro, 24 Hour Fitness Center, Indoor Pool, great Outdoor Courtyard, Meeting Space, and many other amenities for guests to enjoy.

The Assistant General Manager provides direct support to the General Manager and is responsible for all hotel operations. The Assistant General Manager oversees the operating departments and offers support and guidance to all team members. The AGM will model and inspire the team to fulfill KMG Hotels and Courtyard by Marriott's mission, brand voice, guest service & hotel standards.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that all brand standards are being maintained in each area of the property.
  • Ensures all team members meet or exceed all brand requirements.
  • Assist in overseeing the operation of all property departments.
  • Promotes both Guarantee of Fair Treatment and Open-Door policies.
  • Assist the GM with finance and accounting functions, including, but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, petty cash, payroll and ordering procedures, end of period and banking procedures.
  • Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and assist in determining areas of improvement.
  • Complies with all corporate accounting procedures.
  • Performs QA audits with GM.
  • Create a safe, energized, and positive work environment.

Support And Development:

  • Stays readily available/approachable for all employees.
  • Extends professionalism and courtesy to employees at all times.
  • Leads by example demonstrating self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm.
  • Assists GM with setting clear performance expectations and monitors, enforces, and exceeds those expectations.
  • Assists team supervisors with constructive coaching and counseling.
  • Ensures orientations for new team members are thorough and completed in a timely fashion.
  • Oversees overall discipline of hotel, to include hiring, firing, coaching, disciplinary actions, and training.
  • Ensures property hiring practices comply with I-9, and EEO requirements and strives for a culturally diverse workplace.
  • Consistent in delivery with all associates and guests.

Guest Experience:

  • Extends professionalism and courtesy to guests at all times.
  • Motivates and encourages staff to solve guest and employee-related concerns.
  • Provides excellent customer service by being readily available/approachable for all guests.
  • Takes proactive approaches when dealing with guest concerns.
  • Assists employees in understanding guests’ ever-changing needs and expectations, and how to exceed them.

Education, Experience, Work Environment:

  • Four years of guest service/hotel experience with at least two years in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent, combination of education and experience preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Previous Marriott Select Service experience preferred, but not mandatory.
  • F&B experience preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Must speak fluent English, additional languages a plus.
  • Work schedule varies and may include working evenings, holidays and weekends shifts.
  • Requires standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 25 pounds, bending and reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
