Listed is the base hiring salary range offered for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to skills and experience. The salary range listed is just one component of the total rewards/compensation package offered to candidates.

Min = $100,495.83

Mid = $130,644.58

Max = $160,793.32

Summary

The Manager of Infection Prevention & Control (IP&C) is responsible for overseeing the comprehensive Infection Prevention program for YRMC and all affiliated outpatient settings. This includes the establishment and supervision of a system for identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases among patients, visitors, and personnel. The Program Manager role requires the effective and efficient utilization of self-motivation, organizational, detail-focused, and data analytical skills to conduct infection prevention surveillance activities at YRMC. Additionally, the Program Manager collaborates with Employee Health on programs for influenza vaccination and tuberculosis screening, with a focus on reducing the burden of hospital-acquired infections and prioritizing goals based on regular risk assessment. The Manager also ensures that current standards and literature are reviewed and implemented to reduce costs without increasing risks to patients and clients.

Responsibilities

Develops and maintains written standards, policies and procedures related to infection prevention encompassing all entities of Yuma Regional Medical Center. Ensures policies are consistent with regulatory agencies, including OSHA & CDC guidelines, accreditation and CMS standards. Ensures policies are updated as stipulated by the Infection Prevention Committee and coordinates the planning, development, and implementation of the short and long term goals and objectives for the infection prevention program through collaboration with the medical director of the infection prevention program and evaluate the program based on organizational needs and goals, and as stipulated by the Infection Prevention Committee and its Chairperson.

Provides leadership and expertise in assessment and action planning related to DNV-GL, HFAP and CMS standards and surveys regarding infection prevention & control. Participates in continuous survey readiness program and attends training in accreditation philosophy and execution for patient safety. Performs weekly rounds with multi-disciplinary team to assess for environment of care issues and survey readiness.

Develops or provides leadership in the development and delivery of educational programs for medical, nursing, allied health, administrative departments and the community in the area of infection prevention and ensures programs are consistent with current practice, CMS standards, AOA standards and OSHA regulations. Maintains oversight for programs related to Bloodborne Pathogens, Respiratory Protection, Tuberculosis. Ensures programs are provided during employee orientation and annually for all staff, including volunteers; Exhibits basic competencies in teaching utilizing adult learning principles and assists in the development, training and implementation of organizational responses related to pandemic planning and preparedness, bioterrorism and surge capacity planning.

Oversees and performs infection prevention surveillance and investigation activities for all patients. Performs routine surveillance according to schedule approved by Infection Prevention committee or rearranges to meet organizational priorities and conducts investigations of suspected problem areas in a timely manner. Keeps infection prevention data bases current and follows- up on positive cultures and communicable diseases for all patients and staff; collaborates with Employee Health when investigating and/or following up on any staff illnesses, communicable diseases, work related injuries.

Acts as hospital liaison, collaborating with other health care professionals regarding infection prevention and works in conjunction with all services with primary areas being Employee Health Department and Laboratory Services. Provides and receives information for State and county health departments and participates in local infection prevention control organization, APIC Grand Canyon Chapter. Reviews current infection prevention literature from all sources including CDC, health department to the internet and acts as a Consultant for a variety of persons including physicians, staff, patients and community. Makes recommendations to reduce costs at no increased risk to patients and clients and performs year-round syndromic surveillance for West Nile Virus and Influenza-like-illnesses, becomes part of CDC data base. Issues the Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA) during internal and external construction projects by working with Facilities, Safety and outside contractors to adhere to infection control standards during construction, demolition or renovation activities.

Develops educational strategy for contractors entering hospital to raise awareness of their impact on infection control in the facility. Partners with local health department and community healthcare organizations to improve infection prevention outcomes across continuum of care. Provides in-services, as deemed appropriate, to outside agencies on infection prevention and control practice, surveillance and data tracking; and collaborates with local partners on initiatives to reduce harm related to avoidable infections.

Actively participates in assigned committees and co-chairs the Infection Prevention Committee and is the facilitator for Infection Control Council. Attends assigned committees or make arrangements for coverage including but not limited to Safety Committee, Patient Safety Council, Interdisciplinary Practice Council, Clinical Education Council, and Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee.
