As a Product Owner, you will play a critical role in defining and executing project goals, driving process improvement initiatives, and providing innovative solutions that have a profound impact on millions of individuals. You will act as a strategic leader while collaborating closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business departments to identify and document current and future business processes and requirements
  • Assess system changes for downstream impacts and organizational effects
  • Engage in solution development to provide preliminary evaluations and user interface experiences for business units
  • Coordinate and create UAT artifacts, including test strategies, scripts, and plans
  • Ensure changes and enhancements to applications meet business requirements and specifications
  • Prioritize and track issues from inception to resolution
  • Report project status to stakeholders
  • Agile Engagement: Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and solution design meetings. Consistently adhere to Agile methodology in all processes
  • Interface Management: Work with end users, IT, and other business segments to resolve system issues promptly
  • Identify and recommend business process efficiencies, operational improvements, and system enhancements
  • Self-Directed Work: Operate independently, handling less structured and more complex issues
  • Serve as a resource to others within the organization
  • Act as the Product Owner on a Scrum Team, guiding the team towards objectives with extensive knowledge and experience
  • Actively participate in project meetings, collaborating with business stakeholders and end users to understand their needs
  • Develop clearly defined, feasible, and valuable features that meet the Definition of Ready (DOR) in Rally
  • User Story Management: Craft user stories in the Given-When-Then (GWT) format with precision, maintaining an organized backlog. Ensure the correct implementation of user stories by clarifying uncertainties and assisting in task breakdown
  • Backlog Prioritization: Prioritize the Scrum Team's backlog based on business value
  • Evaluate the work done by the Development Team, providing feedback to ensure adherence to requirements and high-quality standards
  • Regularly update the Scrum Team and Business Stakeholders to ensure alignment with the product vision
  • Drive continuous improvement within the Product Owner role by identifying and implementing best practices. Provide support and ensure alignment with other Product Owners to achieve project goals and successful execution
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination with external partners and vendors, fostering strong relationships and maximizing value from third-party collaborations
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in product management
  • Embody the organization's culture and values, delivering outstanding customer service

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in managing projects from ideation to post-deployment, demonstrating solid project management skills and the ability to drive projects to completion
  • Demonstrated success as a Product Owner or in a similar role, with a track record of delivering successful outcomes and driving business value
  • Experience in capturing requirements, effectively documenting and communicating complex processes using the Given-When-Then (GWT) format
  • Agile Methodologies: Solid understanding and application of Agile methodologies in a complex and fast-paced environment. Experience using Aha, Rally, Jira, or similar tools for project management and issue tracking
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships and influence decision-making at all organizational levels
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of driving successful outcomes and delivering business value
  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare industry trends, regulations, and best practices
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities, showing adaptability, time management, and the ability to meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification as an Agile Product Owner or Agile Leader
  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis, including gathering requirements for enhancements, interfaces, and data mapping. Proficient in using requirements gathering tools and processes and capturing business/interface workflows
  • 3+ years of experience in the health insurance industry
  • Agile Tools Proficiency: Expertise with Agile tools such as Rally and Aha!
  • Formal training in product management
  • Experience with UHG claims platforms or other commercially available claims platforms
  • Experience in producing and executing Business User Acceptance Test scripts derived from process gap analysis, business data mapping definitions, and business requirement definitions
  • All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable.
