Velosity is seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Corporate Controller to lead our accounting, compliance, and financial reporting functions across a multi-site contract manufacturing business serving the Medical and Defense sectors. This role is critical to maintaining the integrity of our financial systems and supporting growth in a complex, regulated environment. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will oversee the close process, internal controls, insurance and risk management, compliance reporting, and the leadership of a growing finance team.

This is an onsite role and can either sit at our Brooklyn Park, MN or Forest Lake, MN site.

The typical pay range for this role: $155,000 - $190,000 annually.

This pay range reflects the base hourly rate or annual salary for positions within this job grade, based on our market-based pay structures. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal equity, business needs, and local market conditions. While the full range is shared for transparency, offers are rarely made at the minimum or maximum of the range.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, including multi-site manufacturing
  • Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and cost accounting principles
  • Experience in private equity environments or regulated sectors (Medical, Defense) highly desirable
  • Hands-on experience managing audits and compliance filings
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., IQMS, Epicor, JobBOSS) and strong Excel capabilities

Essential Functions

Accounting Operations & Month-End Close

  • Lead, manage, and analyze the full monthly and year-end close process
  • Review journal entries and reconciliations across all locations
  • Ensure timely and accurate consolidation of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Maintain and improve internal closing calendars, checklists, and standard operating procedures
  • Provide insightful analysis of financial performance and develop key metrics to support strategic decision-making

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Lead completion of external financial audits, 401(k) audits, and R&D tax credit filings
  • Ensure adherence to tax reporting and compliance requirements (income, sales/use, property)
  • File and maintain ITAR registrations and support related compliance tracking

Risk Management & Insurance

  • Lead the annual insurance renewal process, including policy review and broker coordination
  • Evaluate company-wide risk exposures and ensure proper coverage across general liability, property, workers' comp, cyber, and D&O insurance
  • Serve as the primary contact for insurance claims and risk mitigation strategies

Cost Accounting & Inventory

  • Oversee standard cost rolls in the ERP system, inventory valuation, and cost variance analysis
  • Partner with operations and site finance teams to ensure accuracy of inventory and cost reporting
  • Support cycle counts, physical inventories, and excess/obsolete inventory reserves

Team Leadership & Process Improvement

  • Manage and develop the accounting and finance team, including site controllers and transactional staff (payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections)
  • Enforce policies and procedures and drive continuous improvement in accounting processes, systems, and internal controls
  • Serve as a key contributor in ERP utilization, integration, and potential system upgrades

Cash Management & Treasury

  • Oversee daily and weekly cash management, including cash positioning and liquidity planning
  • Manage short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts
  • Review and approve outgoing wires, ACH transactions, and intercompany funding
  • Maintain banking relationships and support treasury reporting

Physical & Mental Demands

  • Walking and stair climbing is required within the office/shop areas. Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to make decisions with limited information prioritize, and multi-task.

Work Environment

This is a non-smoking, professional tool shop with normal lighting, and climate control. This position requires the employee to work on a manufacturing floor where they may be subject to airborne contaminants and chemical odors.

Protective Clothing Required

When in certain locations of the facility, eye and ear protection are required. Closed-toed/ Slip resistant shoes are also required in certain locations.
