Position Overview:
Ensuring the consistent production of a high quality product in a bread and roll facility while incorporating safety and sanitation standards. Through leadership and support of Safety and Quality initiatives, the superintendent is charged with managing culture in a team-based environment. Additionally, the superintendent is responsible for controlling production costs, waste, and downtime, monitoring production and finished products, and positively engaging with employees. He or she is also expected to hold production supervisors accountable for the same.

Previous bakery experience is a plus with knowledge and understanding of doughs, proofing, baking, cooling, wrap, and computerized batching systems. Ability to view product for proper size, color, product codes, etc. Demonstrated ability to motivate and train employees within a team oriented environment. Must be self-directed and able to work without close supervision. Position requires high energy and motivation and strong desire to drive positive change. Physically capable of being on your feet the entire shift, with occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds above your head. This is a very hands-on position. Working knowledge of computers, including MS office applications.

- Ensuring consistent production of high-quality product in a bread and roll facility while incorporating safety, food safety and sanitation standards.
- Leading, training and holding employees accountable in all facets of their roles including safety, quality, operational and financial metrics.
- Foster positive culture of employee engagement and dignity and respect with all employees
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization on all matters
- Ensure all departments, supervisors and employees understand and are engaged in effective waste, lost line time and quality management
- Lead and support the safety process to achieve the company goal of zero accidents
- Generate, review and input various pieces of data for necessary operations. For example make-up and wrap schedules, labor, waste, shift productivity, quality conformance, compliance with standard operating procedures and other critical reports.
- Effectively coordinate schedule with sales and shipping departments and adjust orders accordingly to maintain a constant production flow.
- Ensure production lines are adequately staffed with qualified employees to complete expected sales order
- Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations as well as plant rules and company policies
- Be an active member of the Company’s Food Safety Team, HACCP team, and Plant Safety Committee
- Report and take necessary actions to prevent food safety, legal, or quality issues from occurring
- Follow and enforce programs and procedures outlined in the Food Safety and Quality manual to support compliance with the FSSC 22000 for Food Safety and other third-party audits
- Other duties as needed
