Job Summary

The Senior Associate Athletic Director – External Affairs/Chief Revenue Officer is responsible for leading revenue-generating efforts for UTA Athletics, including ticket sales, sponsorships, licensing, and merchandising. Oversees external operations such as marketing, branding, public relations, and digital media to grow fan engagement and support long-term financial goals. Serves on the department’s senior leadership team and contributes to strategic planning and administrative oversight.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Oversee and optimize revenue-generating operations and growth through various streams including ticket sales, sponsorships, licensing, and merchandising.
  • Develop innovative revenue streams through strategic planning and market analysis.
  • Establishes and tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of external initiatives and revenue-driving efforts.
  • Develops and implements comprehensive revenue strategies that maximize ticket sales, corporate sponsorships, fundraising, licensing, and multimedia rights.
  • Directs ticket sales strategies, including pricing, packaging, and outreach initiatives, to increase attendance and revenue.
  • Leads the development, execution, and communication of the vision and strategic plan for all athletics external initiatives, with a solid focus on generating revenue and enhancing the department’s financial sustainability.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to ensure a cohesive approach to branding, messaging, and engagement across all platforms.
  • Oversees marketing, public relations, promotions, branding, and digital media efforts to drive fan engagement, attendance, and visibility of UTA Division of Intercollegiate Athletics and associated events.
  • Serve as a member of Athletics Department Senior Leadership Team contributing to overall strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Serve as a Sports Administrator if assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Five (5) years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education experience in an NCAA, Division-I athletics department, or a equivalent mix of education and relevant experience in similar role

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Seven (7) years’ experience with any relevant external affairs department within an NCAA division-I athletics department.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Financial analysis skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship-building capabilities.
  • A comprehensive understanding of intercollegiate athletics and its revenue streams.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Expert management and supervisory skills, including staff recruitment, retention, and professional development, as well as strategic planning, analysis and organizational skills to adapt to evolving market conditions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proven track record of successful revenue growth and management.
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays, is required.

Other Requirements Working Conditions

  • Time outdoors administering home athletic events and attending community and campus events.
