The Opportunity

This position works out of our San Ramon, CA location in the Heart Failure Division. In Abbott’s Heart Failure (HF) business, we’re developing solutions to diagnose, monitor and manage heart failure, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

You will be responsible for the visual and dimensional inspection of incoming components/materials, information for use (IFUs), packaging, and labeling materials. Perform first article inspections, conduct functional testing as required by component drawings and/or test instructions. Work in compliance to AV Procedures and cGMP guidelines.

What You’ll Work On

  • Maintain inspection documentation in accordance with SOPs, WIs and GMP (CFRs)
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
  • Inspect incoming, R&D components and production components
  • Perform and process first article inspections as directed by IQA Supervisor.
  • Correlate supplier’s first article inspection report with AV first article inspection results.
  • Interface with engineers on new product development, inspections and Non-conformance results.

Required Qualifications

  • Requires an AA degree or technical education with a minimum of one-year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be knowledgeable in using measurement equipment and tools such as calipers, gages, micrometers, etc.
  • Experience in or familiarity with regulatory requirements such as FDA GMP, ISO and Quality Systems Regulations.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and schematics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of basic inspection techniques.
  • Proficiency in using basic math skills to obtain test and inspection results.
  • Previous experience in the medical device industry preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be familiar with current software such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, which are used in generating reports and statistics.

The base pay for this position is $20.40 – $40.80 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
