Company Overview

We are representing a growing construction services organization undergoing a significant transformation, including expansion across multiple states and through strategic acquisitions. The company is seeking a technology executive to serve as Vice President of IT or Chief Information Officer (CIO), responsible for creating and executing a modern IT vision that supports scalability, integration, and operational efficiency.


Position Summary

The VP/CIO will lead the enterprise-wide IT strategy, driving modernization efforts with a focus on ERP transformation, IT systems consolidation, and integration of newly acquired businesses. The organization operates in a multi-site, multi-state environment, requiring a leader with experience standardizing platforms across diverse business units while ensuring local flexibility.

This executive will be instrumental in implementing a new ERP platform (such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, etc.), integrating IT systems from acquired companies, and building an agile, service-oriented IT team. The VP/CIO will report to the CFO and serve as a trusted partner across the leadership team, ensuring technology enables business growth and enhances company performance.



Key Responsibilities


  • ERP Ownership: Lead the evaluation, deployment, and continuous enhancement of a new ERP system (ideally NetSuite or Oracle). Act as the in-house expert while mentoring functional leaders to become ERP super users.


  • M&A Integration: Direct IT integration across newly acquired organizations, including assessment of existing systems, standardization of processes, and seamless migration to unified platforms.


  • Technology Unification: Consolidate fragmented IT environments into a secure, scalable architecture that supports multi-site and multi-state operations.


  • Due Diligence & Post-Acquisition Support: Oversee IT due diligence during acquisitions and ensure smooth post-close transitions that align with corporate standards and maintain operational continuity.


  • Strategic Roadmapping: Design and implement a long-term IT strategy that drives

operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and scalable growth.


  • Team Leadership: Build, lead, and develop a geographically distributed IT team focused on service excellence, innovation, and execution.


  • Infrastructure Modernization: Upgrade infrastructure to enable mobile access, real-time field data, VoIP, imaging, and enhanced connectivity for field operations.


  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with technology vendors and managed service providers (MSPs), ensuring reliable service delivery, favorable contract terms, and performance accountability.


  • Governance & Compliance: Establish IT governance and enforce security protocols and compliance standards (e.g., ISO, SSAE 16, ITIL, COBIT).


  • Executive Collaboration: Partner with senior leadership to align technology initiatives with business objectives and deliver measurable results.


Qualifications


  • 15+ years of progressive experience in IT leadership, with a strong background in ERP system implementation and optimization (e.g., NetSuite, IFS).


  • Expertise managing IT across multi-location, multi-state operations with a focus on standardizing platforms and streamlining processes.


  • Proven track record of leading IT efforts during mergers and acquisitions, including systems integration and change management.


  • Industry experience in construction, manufacturing, or industrial services is strongly preferred.


  • Familiarity with enterprise applications including CRM (e.g., Salesforce), Microsoft 365, business intelligence tools, and mobile-first technologies.


  • Demonstrated success in scaling IT teams and operations, using a combination of internal staff and external service providers.


  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity, regulatory requirements, and enterprise risk management.


  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
