We are seeking a *Research Data Analyst* who will primarily be responsible for the management and analysis of social network data collected from people who use drugs in Baltimore, Maryland. There will be an expectation that the Data Analyst participate in the cleaning and development of analytic data sets for use by the investigator team. The Research Data Analyst will also conduct analysis of social network data as directed by the investigative team and contribute to ongoing scientific manuscripts and conference presentations. The Research Data Analyst will need to work closely with existing Biostatisticians and other data staff, including core members of the research group, to complete analysis in a timely manner.

*Specific Duties & Responsibilities*

  • Work in collaboration with scientists and core staff to address research questions involving the analysis of social and behavioral risk hypotheses.
  • Problem-solve applications of existing analytic tools to specific data analysis projects, including independent identification of problems and initial attempts at solutions.
  • Modify existing methods for application to new datasets and types of analyses - typically using R software.
  • Document work and data analyses, particularly through organized digital records of data set sources, file locations, and statistical and bioinformatics code.
  • Interpret and contextualize the results of statistical analyses.
  • Discuss with colleagues, investigators, and supervisor the need for any additional analyses and/or special methodological needs.
  • Clearly summarize and present findings at team meetings.
  • Prepare written reports of statistical analyses, including relevant statistical theory, references, methods, results, and conclusions to contribute to scientific publications.
  • Keep abreast of technical and academic resources related to the methodology of statistical analyses.

*Minimum Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Three years related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

*Preferred Qualifications*

  • Master's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or Biostatistics.
  • Experience with social network analysis.
  • Experience working in substance use epidemiology.
  • R, SAS or STATA programming proficiency (mastery preferred).

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
