Brief Description:

The HME Support Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the Discharge Sales Team and key accounts. This role involves managing incoming orders, coordinating essential documents, verifying equipment qualifications based on insurance guidelines, and ensuring medical necessity standards are met for each patient. The work directly supports the efficiency and impact of the sales team, and the quality of care provided to clients.

Essential Functions:

  • Utilize Parachute to communicate with accounts and collect necessary documentation.
  • Partner closely with sales representatives and key accounts to provide seamless support.
  • Respond promptly to equipment requests and ensure high customer satisfaction.
  • Determine qualifications based on insurance guidelines and assess medical necessity.
  • Coordinate discharges in collaboration with accounts, patients, families, and Sales Representatives.
  • Serve as a point of contact on Reliable’s dedicated referral hotline.
  • Maintain accurate records of all transactions and activities related to patient care.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of process improvements.
  • Provide training and support to new team members.
  • Adhere to all HIPAA, HQAA, and compliance rules and regulations.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • DME experience is a plus.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in office administration or customer service within the healthcare industry.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare documentation standards and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Occasionally required to lift and move materials up to 25 pounds.
