This position supports schools and districts across Sonoma County in delivering high-quality English Language Arts (ELA) and English Language Development (ELD) instruction for students in grades TK–12, with a strong emphasis on advancing equitable outcomes for Multilingual Learners. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of the California ELA and ELD Standards, the California English Learner Roadmap, and the integration of current research and best practices, including the Science of Reading and both Integrated and Designated ELD. The Language & Literacy Project Coordinator will play a critical role in designing and facilitating engaging, research-based professional learning for educators and administrators. In collaboration with the department team, this role will support school and district leaders in building and sustaining systems that promote high-quality, culturally and linguistically responsive instruction. Responsibilities include coaching educators, modeling effective instructional practices, supporting the analysis and use of disaggregated data, and guiding the implementation of ELA/ELD curriculum and course models aimed at addressing existing inequities in language and literacy outcomes.

This role requires a commitment to supporting the diverse needs of Sonoma County’s student population, particularly Multilingual Learners, by strengthening instructional systems and educator capacity. The Project Coordinator may also serve as a knowledgeable resource to schools and districts as they evaluate and adopt ELA/ELD materials and instructional frameworks aligned with equity-driven goals. The ideal candidate will remain current on statewide and national trends, policies, and initiatives related to language and literacy development, and will leverage this knowledge to inform and support the region’s educators and leaders in advancing educational equity for all learners. *Requirement: A valid California Administrative Services credential *Site or District level leadership is highly desired
