Description
This position is responsible for setup and operation of large CNC Bridge Mill(s) designed for machining industrial components and weldments. The machinist will assist the quality assurance departments with and first articles inspections. The machinist will monitor quality by taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, and adjusting, to quality assurance procedures and processes. Knowledgeable in commonly used practices and procedures within the CNC programmer/machinist profession. Working knowledge and understanding of the Okuma controls.

Description

The machinist will assist the quality assurance departments with and first articles inspections. Essential Functions
- Setup and operate assigned CNC Bridge Mill.
- Perform all functions of a “CNC Trainee” listed on the Skill Chart.
- Programming CNC designs into cut instructions
- Load parts to process.
- Preform jig layout changeovers.
- Setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math.
- Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers, fixtures, bore gauges and gauges to check work and perform detailed inspection of parts produced to meet tolerance requirements.
- Writing and maintaining inspection and programming logs and manuals.
- Ability to reduce setup time and machining through process improvements.
- Provides constant feedback and input into process improvement within the department.
- Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements and safety procedures.
- Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions.
- Communicates thoughts and ideas, both verbally and in writing, to co-workers and management
- Employees are to speak only English during an emergency and while performing job duties where there is potential for an emergency. The rule does not apply to casual conversations between employees when they are not performing a job duty.
- Non-field-related positions require in-office work 5 days a week at the assigned facility.
- Supporting MFG Engineering department to process and implement machining production flow processes.
- Capable and willing of performing all essential functions of a “CNC Trainee.”
- Demonstrate commitment to an injury-free environment by actively participating in company safety programs.
