Vice President, Analytics & Insights

Position Overview

As VP, Analytics & Insights, you will define and execute a bold analytics vision across US Commercial, Medical, and Government Affairs (CMG). Reporting to the SVP, Head of Data, Digital, and Analytics (DDA), this role combines strategic leadership and hands-on execution. It goes beyond delivering analytics and actionable insights — it includes owning, building, and scaling analytics products through close partnership with the Informatics (IX) team and delivering high impact and decision support across CMG.

This leader will drive transformation from ad hoc analytics to reusable, scalable products and capabilities, enabling real-time insights across CMG. The VP will build and lead a modern, tech-savvy analytics organization that partners closely with business teams, IX, and DDA functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set and drive an enterprise-wide strategy for analytics across CMG, aligned to business priorities and lifecycle needs.
  • Serve as a senior strategic advisor across CMG, ensuring analytics is embedded throughout planning and execution.
  • Transition analytics delivery from project-based to scalable, reusable analytics products and platforms that enable speed, transparency, and consistency.
  • Lead the transformation of reporting and KPI frameworks, shifting from static dashboards to automated, interactive, self-serve insights platforms with clear business impact.
  • Partner with IX team to define the roadmap and prioritize the development of analytics products (dashboards, forecasting, 360 insights, targeting, measurement, optimization).
  • Lead both primary and secondary research to uncover market dynamics, customer needs, patient journeys, and HCP behavior patterns. Provide analytics advisorship on TA and/or above-brand strategies.
  • Lead the team to partner with Squad leaders and deliver therapeutic area (TA)-aligned insights through robust analytics (e.g., forecasting, market segmentation and customers profiling, brand performance tracking and KPI measurement, campaign effectiveness, omnichannel engagement analytics and marketing ROI optimization).
  • Provide data-driven point-of-view on market- and product-specific industry trends, sales performance, sales outlook, product demand outlook, business risks and opportunities.
  • Partner with Customer Engagement team and deliver national/regional-level insights with robust analytics (e.g., targeting and call planning optimization, sizing, field effectiveness analysis and performance reporting)
  • Partner with Medical, Access & Payer teams to define analytics strategies and deliver actionable insights
  • Partner with Digital Experience team to close the loop between engagement actions and outcomes, enhancing personalization strategies and optimize customer experience.
  • Lead omnichannel campaign measurement, including A/B testing, attribution modeling, and optimization of content and timing across HCP and patient journeys.
  • Partner with Data Science team and deploy machine learning models and AI solutions to supercharge analytics products.
  • Work closely with IX team to architect a modern analytics ecosystem leveraging cloud-native platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure), big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Databricks, Snowflake), and advanced analytics tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Power BI, Tableau).
  • Champion a culture of experimentation, agile execution, and continuous learning.
  • Inspire, lead, and develop a high-performing team of analytics experts. Foster a culture of respect, inclusion, growth mindset, and accountability.
  • Attract, develop, and retain diverse talent; nurture the next generation of analytics leaders.
  • Optimize the balance of onshore/near-shore/offshore capacity. Effectively guide near-shore/offshore teams to ensure alignment with project objectives and maintain high-quality deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in finance, economics, engineering, mathematics, or statistics discipline) required. Advanced degree (MS, MBA) preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in analytics and insights roles within life sciences or regulated industries.
  • 10+ years of experience leading large teams, both in direct reporting as well as cross-functional groups.
  • Strategic and operational leader who can drive effective and efficient execution against business opportunities, both in the immediate and longer-term.
  • Proven success in building and scaling analytics platforms or products (dashboards, modeling pipelines, tools).
  • Deep expertise in commercial analytics, e.g., primary and second research, marketing analytics, field analytics, omnichannel marketing analytics, pricing/access.
  • Experience leading analytics teams to support Medical is a plus.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale analytics transformation in complex matrixed environments.
  • Extensive experience working with data science, machine learning, and AI teams and supercharge analytics capabilities and impact.
  • Strong change management and stakeholder engagement skills to drive adoption across diverse teams.
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure), big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Databricks, Snowflake), and advanced analytics tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Power BI, Tableau).
  • Ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience in coaching, developing, and inspiring talent.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with demonstrated success in facilitating cross-functional collaboration.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is 272,500.00 - 490,500.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
