Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position will have:
Masters in Nursing (MSN) prefferred but not required
Bachelors in Nursing (BSN) required
Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with the State Board of Nursing in Wyoming
Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, preferable in skilled nursing and long-term care setting
Strong knowledge of nursing practices, clincial procedures, and healthcare regualtions
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with residents, families and the healthcare team
Ability to assess, prioritize, and manage multipe paitent needs effectively
First aid and CPR certifications.
In-depth understanding of resident care policies and regulations
Job Description:
- The Director of Nursing (DON) is a registered nurse (RN) responsible for overseeing the nursing care provided to residents. This role ensures compliance with regulations and manages the nursing staff. The DON leads the nursing program, implements policies and procedures, and works to maintain a safe and high-quality care environment.
- Leadership: - Oversee and supervise all nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
- Resident Care: - Ensure that residents receive appropriate and effective care, which includes care planning, medication management, and pain management.
- Policy and Procedure Implementation: - Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures to ensure quality and safety in care delivery.
- Staff Management: - Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate nursing staff, address performance issues, and ensure staff compliance with regulations.
- Quality Assurance: - Monitor and evaluate the quality of care provided, ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations and standards.
- Communication: - Communicate with residents, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and address any concerns.
- Budget Management: - Manage the nursing department's budget, including staffing, supplies, and equipment.
- Compliance: - Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines related to long-term care.
- Collaboration: - Collaborate with other departments and healthcare professionals to provide coordinated and comprehensive care.
- Staffing: - Ensure appropriate nurse staffing ratios are maintained at all times; serve as on-call support and provide direct patient care as needed to maintain continuity and quality of care.
