Primary Goal: To ensure every member, guest, and visitor leaves the "J" feeling just a little better than when they arrived, and to provide impactful leadership for the Afterschool and School Days Out programs.

Position Summary:

The Director of Afterschool Programming is responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing management of a high-quality, engaging, and innovative after-school program. Additionally, this role plays a key role, in coordination with the Director of Camping Services, in developing and overseeing other children & youth programs including: Summer Camp J, Winter Camp J, School Days Out programs, monthly Parents' Night Out, and private piano lessons.This role encompasses program development, budget oversight, staff leadership, marketing collaboration, volunteer management, and strong communication with parents, children, and internal departments. The Director will be a visible and welcoming presence within the programs, embodying the "J's" commitment to creating positive experiences for all.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development & Implementation:
    • Design, develop, and implement meaningful, innovative, and dynamic after-school programming that aligns with the "J's" mission and meets the needs of the community.
    • Maintain a visible and welcoming presence during program hours, serving as the primary point of contact and fostering a positive environment.
  • Budget Management:
    • Oversee and manage the budgets for the J-Care program, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
  • Leadership & Collaboration:
    • Serve in a key leadership role for the Winter Camp and Summer Camp programs, contributing to their planning, staffing, and execution.
    • Support the Director of Camping Services in developing and implementing the School Days Out program, monthly Parents' Night Out, and private piano lessons.
    • Collaborate with the Communication Department to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing plan, including publicity and recruitment materials, to promote the programs.
    • Staff and support any associated committees and task forces, working closely with the relevant department chair (lay leadership).
    • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with other JCC departments to ensure seamless program delivery and positive overall experience for participants.
  • Communication & Relationship Building:
    • Establish and maintain positive and effective communication and interaction with parents and children.
    • Respond to parent inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Administrative & General Responsibilities:
    • Attend all required staff meetings.
    • Fulfill other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Senior Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, Child Development, Recreation Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in developing and managing youth programs, preferably after-school or camp programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget development and management.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people, including staff, volunteers, parents, and children.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • The ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the "J."

Salary:

$45,000 - $55,000
