Reporter-City of Rogers/Health
Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
Date: 1 day ago
City: Fayetteville, AR
Contract type: Full time

We’re looking for a storyteller who understands that government coverage is about the issues, not the meetings; the taxpayers, not the politicians. We’re seeking a professional who is skilled in producing multimedia content for our digital-first newsroom, with a focus on clarity and avoiding jargon.
Northwest Arkansas Newspapers seeks a writer to cover the cities of Rogers and Lowell, as well as regional healthcare issues, along with other duties as assigned. Rogers is a booming city in a region named by several institutions and publications as one of the best places to live and work in the country.
The successful candidate should have a degree in journalism or a related field and knowledge of AP style. The best candidate will demonstrate an understanding of municipal government, a clear, inviting writing style and organization, and a desire to write enterprise stories. Experience at a daily newspaper is preferred; however, entry-level applicants with strong clips will be considered.
The position works from our Fayetteville and Bentonville offices.
The work schedule will include nights and occasional weekend duty. This is a safety-sensitive position. The candidate must pass a drug screening, undergo background checks, have a satisfactory motor vehicle record and a valid driver’s license, and provide their own means of transportation.
Our benefits package includes paid vacation, holidays, sick leave, personal days and parental leave. Our extensive health, dental and vision insurance coverage is designed to support your well-being, along with long-term disability and retirement plans to help you prepare for the future. We also provide access to our Employee Assistance Programs for extra support.
The Northwest Arkansas Newspapers is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, protected veteran status, disability, age or another legally protected status.
