The Director of Training is a key leadership role at Belle Tire responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing the organization's learning initiatives, ensuring the successful implementation of the organization's training strategies. The Director of Training collaborates with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to assess organizational needs and ensure that all training programs align with business objectives, drive organizational success, and support a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

What You'll Do
- Lead and manage a team of training professionals including an LMS specialist, training coordinator, instructional designers, and facilitators, providing guidance and support in their day-to-day activities and professional development.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify training needs and performance gaps, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and goals.
- Lead the design and development of engaging and effective learning solutions, including instructor-led training, e-learning modules, multimedia content, job aids, and other relevant materials.
- Manage internal QA processes for training deliverables using agreed-upon standards. Provide constructive feedback to improve the quality of the team's output.
- Manage training development projects. This includes building the project schedule, adjusting milestones and timing to suit the size and urgency of each unique project, meeting with the team to gather updates, alerting management of perceived and confirmed project threats, and managing scope.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the learning management system (LMS) and other training platforms to deliver and track training programs, coordinating with the team to ensure smooth operations. Ensure LMS is used effectively and to the maximum benefit of the organization.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives through assessments, surveys, and other evaluation methods, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Manage external training content provider relationships. Includes establishing relationships with the appropriate point of contact per vendor, maintaining inventory of our courses, ensuring LMS content is updated at agreed-upon intervals, and testing content or assigning testing to other team members before launching to the organization.
- Manage external instructional design and development resources including assigning projects to resources and ensuring the quality of the deliverables. Process vendor invoices for payment.
- Assist with training coordination as needed including reporting, scheduling, logistics, and communication. Ensure that the training coordination function operates efficiently and effectively.
- Oversee management of training facilities to ensure they are maintained appropriately and have the necessary tools, equipment, and resources to support training initiatives.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in training and development and apply this knowledge to enhance training programs and team capabilities.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the training team, encouraging innovation, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
- Performs other duties, as assigned, based on business needs.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in instructional design, educational technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 7- 10 years of experience in the design, development, and implementation of training solutions, with increased responsibility and influence.
- Minimum 3 years leading a training function.
- Possesses excellent grammar and writing proficiency, communicating confidently with all levels of leadership.
- Demonstrated experience applying instructional design principles and adult learning theories/models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to develop training materials.
- Experience using eLearning authoring tools such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline or other multimedia software
- Experience using a learning management system (LMS).
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills to support data-based decision-making using reports exported from the LMS.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines. Experience with Smartsheet or Jira is a plus.
- Exceptional people management skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and inspire a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify training needs and develop effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Familiarity with emerging trends and technologies in training and development.
- Professional certifications in training and development, instructional design, or related areas are a plus.
- Experience working in a fast-paced agile development environment
- Fundamental knowledge of the automotive industry
- Fundamental knowledge of retail operations
