What You’ll Do

We are seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Director of Rehabilitation Services to lead and elevate our rehabilitation and day programs across Connecticut. In this key leadership role, you will support the Vice President of Rehabilitation Services while overseeing the operations of organization-wide rehabilitation initiatives and multiple day programs for adults with disabilities. You will ensure high-quality service delivery, operational consistency, and strong staff performance. With a focus on retention, talent development, and program enhancement, this is an exciting opportunity to bring fresh leadership to a well-established system and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

  • Support the Vice President of Rehabilitation Services in leading and overseeing rehabilitation programs across the organization.
  • Provide direct supervision and operational oversight of multiple day programs supporting adults with disabilities throughout Connecticut, ensuring staff accountability, performance, and service quality.
  • Lead initiatives to revitalize and improve the effectiveness of day programs, identifying areas for improvement and implementing sustainable solutions.
  • Partner with HR and site leadership to address staffing challenges, improve employee retention, and cultivate a supportive and performance-driven culture.
  • Manage and grow the AbilityOne national placement program, ensuring full compliance with federal regulations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing rehabilitation team, supporting professional development and programmatic excellence.
  • Drive expansion of current services and develop new, sustainable employment and skill-building opportunities for clients.
  • Ensure that all programs meet CARF accreditation standards and undergo regular auditing and policy review.
  • Oversee budgets, forecasting, and revenue planning for vocational and day services.
  • Collaborate across departments to align rehabilitation goals with the agency’s strategic plan and mission.
  • Strengthen data-driven decision-making by enhancing tools and processes for tracking outcomes and performance.
  • Represent the organization in state and federal advocacy efforts, promoting policies that enhance rehabilitation services.
  • Identify and pursue grant funding and alternative resources to support innovation and growth.
  • Foster a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement in partnership with the Compliance Department.
  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory updates to ensure programs remain progressive and impactful.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Business Administration (healthcare/nonprofit focus), or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years progressive experience in rehabilitation or related human services; 8+ years in leadership or supervisory roles.
  • Strong knowledge of CARF accreditation standards and rehabilitation regulations.
  • Familiarity in grant writing and securing diverse funding sources.
  • Strong budgeting and financial management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, and all relevant data management platforms.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, analyze data, and make strategic decisions.
