JOB SUMMARY: The Research Metallurgist is responsible for researching and developing thermal interface materials (TIM), including alloys, composites, or other materials, with major emphasis on metallic materials.

The actual range will vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position’s qualifications, and internal equity.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (COMPETENCIES):
- Initiate and conduct new product development, especially in the areas of new alloy formulation
- Analyze TIM joints characteristics and thermal performance
- Determine reliability of TIM Joints
- Troubleshooting of TIM joint formation
- Process development of TIM material manufacturing
- Develop more efficient thermal conductivity measurement methods
- Process development of deploying TIM materials, including for electronics industry
- Nano materials manufacturing process development
- Other materials or products development
- Attend training as needed or assigned
- Other technology and methodology development
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
- Requires Master’s Degree in metallurgy, Material science/Engineering or a related field. PhD in the above area is preferred but not required
- 2+ years’ work experience in related field
- Proven experience in alloy development
- Proven experience thermal management
- Familiarity with routine laboratory, analytical techniques and fundamentals of material science
- Ability to handle chemicals safely
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Positive attitude toward work and work environments
- Working permit to work in US
- Ability to work independently with verbal or written instructions
- Ability to teach and mentor
- Ability to perform under pressure
- Ability to develop an understanding of Indium Corporation products and services
