Hours: 40 hours/week

Location: To Be Determined in Madison Area

Pay:$16.21-18.91 per hour, depends on education, $1.00 an hour for current CNA license

Summary

The Medical/Classroom Support Aide is responsible for assisting and partnering with the Teacher in the planning and implementation of daily living and learning activities for assigned children with medical needs, if no assigned children with medical needs in the interim, the support aid will support the classroom in implementation of daily activities and curriculum. Participates and assists in lesson planning and carrying out supervisor assigned tasks to reinforce instruction that is safe for the child(ren) assigned. Performs a wide variety of related tasks to assist and care for child(ren). Support assigned children with medical needs in large group as well as individually. Assist the Teacher in providing a creative, pleasant and developmentally appropriate learning experience for all children. Assist in assuring overall safety for assigned child. The Medical/Classroom Support Aide will ensure the assigned child(ren) medical and classroom needs are being met. This position is assigned to child(ren) at any one of our EHS and HS locations and will be assigned based on child(ren) and programming needs.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • CNA certification preferred
  • Documentation of completion of the Intro to Child Care Profession (or equivalent credit bearing course in Child Development/Early Childhood Education) that is required by Wisconsin Day Care License Requirement or must receive within 6 months of employment
  • Work with assigned child(ren) having diagnosed medical needs to ensure safe play in the classroom
  • Attend and participate in all job-related meetings and trainings as assigned, as well as individual mentoring sessions; including completion of up to 25 hours of job-related training annually
  • Assist Teacher and Teacher Aide in providing positive guidance
  • Experience working with people with disabilities and medical needs
  • Obtain Pediatric CPR certification within 6 months of employment
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours in order to meet the needs of the program
  • Knowledge of basic first aid
  • Experience working with children ages 0-5
  • Ride the bus with assigned child(ren) as needed
  • Demonstrate sensitivity toward all cultures
  • Experience working with low-income and multi-cultural families
  • Bilingual, particularly Spanish and /or Hmong is desired
  • Other duties as assigned
