Departmental Objective
To strengthen and support the University’s operations and reputation by providing superior customer service and event management through coordinating effective and efficient event scheduling, event and conference services and event logistical support for all University stakeholders and external partners
Purpose of the Position The Technical Assistant for Events Operations provides technical support for event
operations including audiovisual and other services in all University owned venues both
on and off campus. The position also provides assistance with set-up and operations of
audiovisual equipment, as well as post-events breakdown, including but not limited to:
audio, lighting, and video/projection equipment

Purpose of the Position The Technical Assistant for Events Operations provides technical support for event
operations including audiovisual and other services in all University owned venues both
on and off campus. The position also provides assistance with set-up and operations of
audiovisual equipment, as well as post-events breakdown, including but not limited to:
audio, lighting, and video/projection equipment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position
- Knowledge of event processes, methods, materials, equipment, and techniques used in events management
- Knowledge of audiovisual and conferencing equipment
- Ability to supervise student employees
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to interact with students, faculty, staff, and other clients in a customer-focused manner in support of audiovisual needs and production assistance
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Ability to follow appropriate safety precautions and procedures as well as communicate them to others to prevent work related accidents and injuries
- Ability to work flexible hours to include evenings, weekends and holidays, as well as to work hours beyond a typical work week of 40 hours, as needed
- Ability to safely lift and carry heavy loads (more than 50 lbs.) in accordance with established safety protocols
- Ability to perform tasks requiring pushing and pulling of equipment, carts, or materials as needed
- Ability to stand for extended periods while performing job-related tasks
- Ability to bend, kneel, or crouch as needed to complete assigned duties
- Ability to walk for extended periods or distances as required by the job
- Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands, wrists, or arms, often associated with typing, data entry, and similar
- Ability to reach and extend arms in various directions to access materials, tools, or equipment as needed for task completion
- Ability to tolerate climbing stairs and ladders in accordance with established safety protocols
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required Education Required:
- High school graduate or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma
Experience Required:
- Previous experience in large scale event productions including experience providing technical assistance for executive level and other VIP events and presentations
- Experience in providing support for audiovisual installations and operations
Additional Consideration(s) Education Preferred:
- An Associate’s degree or technical degree/diploma, in Audiovisual Technology, or a Bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Engineering, Broadcasting, Communications, or a closely related field
Experience Preferred:
- Significant demonstrated experience in providing audiovisual technical support in a college or university setting
