Vice President, Talent The Vice President, Talent plays a critical role in the Human Resources leadership team, driving talent acquisition, talent management programs, and learning and development strategies across the organization. In the fast-paced and operationally intensive industry of environmental services and waste management, this position ensures the company attracts, develops, and retains a high-performing, safety-minded, and mission-driven workforce.
Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), the Vice President, Talent collaborates with executive leadership and field operations to design scalable and sustainable people programs that support growth and operational excellence.

Essential Functions & Requirements
Talent Acquisition
- Drives comprehensive talent acquisition strategies across Corporate and field operations, ensuring strong pipelines for CDL drivers, technicians, plant operators, engineers, and other environmental professionals
- Partners with operations leaders to forecast labor demands, address regional workforce challenges, and strengthen recruitment efforts for critical and hard-to-fill roles
- Elevates employment branding and recruitment marketing efforts to reflect the Company's commitment to sustainability and environmental impact, attracting mission-driven talent
- Streamlines recruiting operations, systems, and vendor partnerships to enhance efficiency and optimize the candidate experience
- Leads succession planning and talent reviews across field, Corporate, and leadership roles, ensuring workforce readiness for growth and internal mobility
- Designs competency models that align with business objectives, safety culture, and regulatory environments to support operational excellence
- Partners with field HR and business leaders to implement performance management programs that foster accountability, continuous feedback, and goal alignment
- Facilitates the integration of acquired businesses by ensuring cultural alignment and smooth talent transitions
- Develops scalable learning and development programs to enhance workforce readiness, frontline leadership, and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements
- Strengthens leadership development initiatives for supervisors and managers in field and operations roles
- Implements compliance-focused training programs to meet environmental regulations and safety protocols (e.g., OSHA, DOT)
- Introduces learning technologies (e.g., LMS) to support a mobile and geographically dispersed workforce
- Evaluates training effectiveness by linking learning outcomes to safety, productivity, and employee engagement metrics
- Advises the CHRO and executive team on talent strategy, organizational design, and workforce planning as a key strategic partner
- Leads and mentors a team across talent acquisition, learning and development, and talent management
- Aligns talent strategies with the Company's values, safety culture, and environmental mission to drive organizational success
- Collaborates with field operations and corporate stakeholders to implement compliant, business-aligned programs that support growth and operational excellence
- Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
- Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or related field (required)
- Master's degree (preferred)
- 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in human resources, with deep expertise in talent acquisition, talent management and learning and development (required)
- Demonstrated success in scaling workforce programs for distributed, hourly and skilled labor teams (required)
- Industry experience in environmental services, waste management, utilities, transportation, construction or other operational / logistics-heavy environments (preferred)
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Time to Fill: Measures the efficiency of hiring essential operations positions
- Quality of Hire: Evaluates new hire effectiveness based on performance, retention, and hiring manager satisfaction
- Succession Readiness: Measures the percentage of key roles with identified development-ready successors
- Retention of High Performers: Gauges the organization's success in keeping top talent engaged and committed
- Employee Engagement in Development Programs: Tracks participation and impact of learning initiatives on workforce growth
- Strong strategic talent leadership with the ability to design and executive enterprise-wide talent strategies that align with business goals, ensuring effectiveness in operational, geographically dispersed, and regulated environments
- Operational acumen with a strong understanding of frontline workforce dynamics, including drivers, technicians, plant operators, with the ability to build and implement talent solutions that enhance safety, compliance and efficiency
- Proven ability to lead through change, drive adoption of talent programs, and effectively engage and influence diverse stakeholders
- Comfort in leveraging metrics and analytics to assess program impact, optimize workforce planning and improve talent outcomes through data-driven decision-making
- Commitment to fostering diverse talent pipelines and cultivating a culture of continuous learning, growth and inclusion at all levels
- Regular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role
