DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Software Development Manager to lead to the development of Prime Video’s Homepage personalization systems.Prime Video offers customers a vast collection of movies, TV, and live sports to hundreds of millions of customers globally. Customers can also subscribe to 100+ channels including Max, discovery+, Paramount+ with SHOWTIME, BET+, MGM+, ViX+, PBS KIDS, NBA League Pass, MLB.TV, and STARZ with no extra apps to download, and no cable required. Recommending the right content at the right time to customers is critical for Prime Video to delight our customers and make it easy and enjoyable to find something to watch.
As a Prime Video SDM, you’ll lead a team of talented engineers in design, execution and operations of novel recommendation experiences for our customers. You’ll get to work on projects that are fast-paced, involve state of the art AI/ML, and drive foundational impact for customers and business. You’ll also be able to experiment with new possibilities, take risks, and collaborate with remarkable people across engineering, product, applied science, UX, and business organizations. We’ll look for you to bring your diverse perspectives, ideas, and skill-sets to make Prime Video even better for our customers.
Key job responsibilities
As the manager, you will be leading a team of engineers to utilize Agile methodologies to deliver software projects for the team.
You will be responsible for writing the team's three year vision, partnering project roadmaps, working backwards artifacts, ensuring operational excellence in the team, and coordinate delivery with other teams.
A key responsibility for the manager will be the career development of the engineers in the team, managing performance, promotions and champion best practices and innovation.
A day in the life
You will be working with your team of talented engineers to solve complex problems to benefit Prime Video Customers. Helping coach the team to design and implement ads solutions and keep stakeholders in the loop
You will own the team's ceremonies, such as stand up, sprint planning, retro and demo. You will facilitate operational reviews and team meetings and 1 on 1 sessions. You'll also work with other SDMs on and off the team to help build strong operational best practices
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
