Description
The Health System Specialist supports day-to-day healthcare operations and program coordination efforts. The specialist works under the guidance of senior staff to assist with program support, data tracking, and process improvements that enhance patient care and operational effectiveness.

The Health System Specialist supports day-to-day healthcare operations and program coordination efforts. The specialist works under the guidance of senior staff to assist with program support, data tracking, and process improvements that enhance patient care and operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Program Support and Policy Assistance
- Supports the review and implementation of healthcare program policies and procedures.
- Assists with interpreting basic federal regulations and healthcare guidelines.
- Contributes to drafting and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) under direction.
- Helps track operational data and support efforts to evaluate program performance.
- Helps coordinate activities between departments and internal staff.
- Assists with preparing meeting materials, summaries, and communication updates.
- Contributes to staff training efforts by assembling materials and assisting in sessions.
- Participates in cross-functional workgroups to support healthcare access and coordination efforts.
- Helps coordinate activities between departments, healthcare providers, and internal staff.
- Assists with preparing meeting materials, summaries, and communication updates.
- Contributes to staff training efforts by assembling materials and assisting in sessions.
- Participates in cross-functional workgroups to support healthcare access and coordination efforts.
- Assists in collecting and organizing data from electronic health records (EHRs) and internal systems.
- Supports the preparation of reports, charts, and summaries for internal use.
- Maintains documentation in accordance with data integrity and privacy requirements.
- Learns to use analytics tools and dashboards to support program insights.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, public health, business administration, or a related field
- 3 – 5 years of relevant work experience
- Exposure to healthcare operations, compliance, or policy support is preferred
- Familiarity with data analysis, project coordination, or regulatory tracking is a plus
- Basic understanding of healthcare systems and government or military healthcare environments (e.g., DHA, VA, TRICARE).
- Willingness to learn about healthcare compliance standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a remote environment and engaging virtually with teams.
- Experience with EHR systems, Tableau, or Excel dashboards is a plus.
