Position Objective:
The Associate Civil Project Engineer adeptly manages multiple engineering efforts with competing deadlines and resources. This role works cohesively and collaboratively across companywide functional teams to include Development, Engineering, Accounting, Financial Planning, and Legal. The position reports to the Associate Director, Civil Engineering.
This position shall be focused on designing utility-scale and distributed generation solar energy facilities site civil features including grading plans, hydrological engineering, stormwater management plans, and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans. All site design features need to meet or exceed Conditional Use Permits requirements, building permit conditions and other site requirements.

All site design features need to meet or exceed Conditional Use Permits requirements, building permit conditions and other site requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the design of the civil engineering features for a large-scale solar array including grading design, access roads, attachment means and modifications to support structures.
- Collaborating with the electrical engineering team on optimizing array layouts across different topographical or site challenges.
- Formatting drawing plansets and maintaining AutoCAD template files and standards. Complete redlines based on reviews from Engineers, Developers and local AHJ.
- Reviewing and interpreting Geotechnical Reports as well as Wetland Delineation Reports.
- Producing cut/fill plans and quantities using AutoCAD Civil3d or similar program to ensure the solar array meets the maximum slope tolerance of the mounting system and optimizes the foundation material expenses.
- Participating in the development of the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), erosion, and dust control measures for the Project.
- Reading, interpreting, and understanding project documentation with a focus on fulfilling all the permit and site requirements with value driven designs.
- Researching DOT, utility, and storm water and erosion control requirements for in or out of state jurisdictions.
- BS Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- Hands-on experience in construction or land development (including internships).
- Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D and HydroCAD.
- Experience with MIDS/P8/Winslam preferred, but not required.
- HEC-RAS or Flo2D modeling experience preferred, but not required.
- Experience with Google Earth or other mapping/GIS tools, as well as the use of online and public resources such as federal/state/county databases.
- Site grading and drainage calculations, plan preparation, site hydrology calculations and develop draft reports to be reviewed before final submittals.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of integrity and organizational capacity to manage time and prioritize.
- Self-motivated with proven ability to take ownership, initiative, and accountability.
- A proven ability to provide efficient, timely, and reliable service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to contribute to an amicable team working environment.
- Keen analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Must have a "roll up your sleeves and let's get the job done right" type attitude.
- Demonstrated qualities of integrity, credibility, and professional responsibility.
- Ability to travel and access sites of varying terrain. Position requires frequent travel, up to 1-2 weeks per month or about 20% of working time; must carry an active driver's license with acceptable driving record.
