The West Cabarrus YMCA in Concord, NC is looking for a talented and enthusiastic leader to serve in the role of Sports Director.
Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director and consistent with the Christian mission, the Sports Director is responsible for the planning, implementing, and evaluation of all youth & summer camp sports programs at the West Cabarrus YMCA, including but not limited to soccer, flag football, volleyball, and basketball. The Sports Director will also work directly with the Youth Development Director and assist with the programming of the participants in the Afterschool Program and Summer Camp Program.

Qualifications
KNOW-HOW
- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be attentive to details, be able to work with and meet deadlines, take initiative to develop and provide information and controls necessary for efficient operations.
- Must have excellent human relation, written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to take initiative in making decisions and solving problems and work independently with little supervision.
- Organizational, time management and problem resolution abilities.
- Display a personal commitment to customer service, program development and quality member service.

Essential Functions
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES
- R.O.S.T.E.R. (Recruit, Orient, Supervise, Train, Evaluate and Reward) all sports staff, officials and coaches.
- Ensure all registration procedures are planned, on-time, and accurate before each registration begins.
- Complete teams, rosters, coaches, and practice schedules before the beginning of each season.
- Work closely with ALL branches and the Marketing team to ensure front line staff are equipped with timely and appropriate information, including access to registration forms, handbooks and marketing materials.
- Develop positive relationships with all staff, parents and coaches.
- Follow all Risk and Safety guidelines as laid out by our VP of Risk and Safety, including but not limited to background checks, staff training and facility safety guidelines.
- Facilitate communication between YMCA staff-to-coaches and coaches-to-parents, ensuring all information is accurate and given out in a timely and efficient manner.
- Work with outside organizations, such as churches, parks and recreation, and other YMCA’s to plan sports seasons if necessary.
- Monitor program areas and ensure that all sites are set-up, broken down, clean, accurate, and equipment is taken care of.
- Complete teams, rosters, coaches, and practice/game schedules before the beginning of each season.
- Plan and complete evaluations to each team and prepare evaluation reports after each season.
- Monitor, track, and purchase all equipment, jerseys, trophies, etc. as needed.
- Ensure development, implementation, promotion and evaluation of all sport Summer Camp programs, budgets and related activities.
- Develop, present and maintain a quality image throughout all related departments & facilities.
- Supervise all children within department, including the appropriate discipline within established guidelines.
- Administer successful modification and expansion of new and existing programs in keeping with quality standards, annual goals and key indicators.
- Implement quality control of all sports programs and activities through the use of all quality management tools.
- Work with Youth Development Director and assume lead roles in the Afterschool and Summer Camp
- Follow all policies and procedures of the Rowan-Cabarrus YMCA Association.
- Work with Youth Development Director and other Program Directors to evaluate, initiate and implement programs regarding present and future needs of youth participants.
- Communicates recommendations for changes to current After School and Summer Camp programs.
- Serve as an active and engaged member of the branch leadership team, providing MOD coverage and general building supervision.
- Assist with special events, both at the branch and across the association.
- Carry out special projects as assigned and other duties requested by supervisor or executive management.
- YMCA members, guests and participants are safe at all times while in our facilities.
