SUMMARY

Provides coordination of daily basic needs services for participants currently receiving Employment related programs including Career Accelerator, training programs, etc. and families to increase family stability by performing the following duties, focusing on team members. Family Stability Navigator will provide services at the Gastonia Career Center and report to the location and provide services at Goodwill stores and ADC’s to support team members directly. Family Stability Team member will work with Team members who have contacted them directly, those referred by Goodwill team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES are listed below in order of importance, from most important to least important.

Ensures compliance with Participants Rights included in the Participant Handbook.

Maintains positive, empathetic, and professionalism towards participants that demonstrates knowledge of social, cultural, economic, psychological, and emotional factors influencing the behaviors of participants and families.

Analyzes participant’s challenges in meeting basic material needs through coordination of services and development of action plans to match the available community resources based on participant family dynamic, eligibility, participant preference to progressively reduce level of dependency through a coaching approach.

Works with participant to prioritize key action steps within the plan and can help participants anticipate the impacts and risks of decisions and actions, including the the Benefit Cliff.

Maintains comprehensive and timely documentation of interactions with participants to include services provided, general discussions, and progress on goals.

Advocates for participant by appropriately conveying information to ensure appropriate service levels are met within policy guidelines with community partners, members of the Interdisciplinary team, and other providers.

Maintains communication with partners regarding participant progress and serves as an ongoing liaison as needed to understand the outcomes and results of the participant obtaining services.

Gathers and integrates comprehensive information about community resources through networks, databases, collegial relations, and partnership opportunities.

Serves as a general resource to all members of Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont.

Utilizes internal and external referral sources to provide financial literacy and wrap around services to fulfill the mission of building pathways to help participants in building the life they want to achieve.

Helps support occasional community events that may include nights and weekends.

Supports the Food and Nutrition Service program by enrolling those identified during program participations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Additional Responsibilities

Participates in continuous quality improvement processes and serves on organizational and divisional project teams.

Performs other job-related tasks as assigned by the Manager, Regional Career Services.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Human Services, Social Work, or a related field and four years of experience working with direct service delivery to persons with barriers; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as professional journals, technical procedures and operating and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information, in person and via telephone, in one-on-one and group situations and respond to questions from clients, customers, and the general public using tact, courtesy and cooperativeness.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables, exercising judgment, ingenuity and initiative. Ability to work independently. Ability to exercise discretion while regularly managing confidential information.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Driver's License (Class C), car insurance and reliable automobile and safe driving record (as determined by the Agency's insurance carrier) required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly (more than 2/3 of the day) required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The team member is frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the day) is required to sit. The team member is occasionally (less than 1/3 of the day) required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Regular local travel required in the community to conduct assessments at off-site Goodwill job connections/job link and provide marketing and referral development activities. They will support Pathway Navigators and some travel to stores and ADCs will be expected to provide outreach and sessions as appropriate.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed indoors. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is occasionally exposed to dust. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
