Position Summary: The Assistant Director films, edits, and produces video content for Tulane Athletics on social media/in-venue video boards while also managing studio video shoots and video archives. This position assists the Director of Creative Services in implementing communications and marketing strategies through the production of video content for assigned sports. The Assistant Director supports Tulane athletics programs and external departments to promote and enhance, through digital and social media, the image of the Tulane University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. This position is highly organized, detail-oriented, a good communicator, and possess the ability to handle numerous assignments in a timely manner with the flexibility to adjust to unscheduled developments involving immediate attention.

Essential Functions Of The Job

Function Title: Oversee the creation, editing and implementation of video content for assigned sports - Maintains fresh and innovative video strategies for Tulane Athletics’ media channels; produces video elements that tell Tulane’s story to media, fans and possible prospective student-athletes; and produces videos on time and contains fresh content to consistently to capture an audience. (40%)

Function Title: Attend Tulane sporting events and studio video shoots to capture creative assets for use in highlight videos, social media posts and other various uses - Captures footage at athletic events for both real-time and future use in creative ways that promotes our student-athletes both on and off the field of play. (40%)

Function Title: Develop working relationships with assigned sports’ coaches/staff, student-athletes and external units - Meets expectations in the creation of video content; communicates effectively with assigned sports’ coaches/staff in regard to video content while producing high-quality work that meets deadlines. (15%)

Function: Other Duties - Performs other duties as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description. (5%)

Required Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1 year of experience in the marketing, video, or public relations
  • Professional experience in video shooting and editing

OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 7 years of experience in the marketing, video, or public relations
  • Professional experience in video shooting and editing.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities/Competencies

  • A broad understanding of creative video trends and technologies.
  • Working knowledge and real-world experience in planning, managing and executing video and digital media initiatives.
  • Solid working knowledge of industry standard software and applications such as Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, etc.
  • Efficient audio and video editing skills required.
  • Ability to interact effectively with coaches, administrators, student athletes, media and vendors
  • Strong organizational, management and leadership skills
  • Proven ability to multi-task effectively, prioritize assignments and meet deadlines
  • Strong writing skills
  • Availability to work flexible work schedule including nights and weekends
  • Possible travel with sport teams for select away contests
  • Thorough knowledge of NCAA and American conference rules and regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to learn new technologies, techniques and solve problems quickly and completely.
  • Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with good multitasking and organizational ability.
  • Strong sense of professionalism & judgment in response to issues in the public social media space.
  • Experience at the NCAA DI level.

NCAA Related

Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary. Reports potential rules violations immediately. Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Monitors all of their areas and/or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
